Job summary

Expleo is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support Maritime and defence programmes in the UK. You will oversee requirements engineering, architecture, integration, verification and artefact delivery across the lifecycle, with onsite attendance 2–3 days weekly in Farnborough or Portsmouth, and eligibility for SC clearance.

You will mentor junior engineers, drive technical reviews, and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver critical national capability while adhering to ISO 15288

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in a STEM discipline with strong systems engineering foundation.
• Experience delivering systems engineering artefacts across lifecycle stages.
• Eligibility for UK Security Clearance (SC).
• Experience working in complex engineering environments and defence-related projects.
• Ability to tailor systems engineering processes to programme needs.
• Proven experience producing technical documents (requirements specs, design docs, test plans).

Responsibilities

• Apply systems engineering best practice per ISO 15288 and lifecycle processes.
• Capture, analyse and validate stakeholder and system requirements.
• Develop system architectures and operation concepts; design solutions.
• Produce and maintain key systems engineering artefacts across the project lifecycle.
• Lead systems engineering activities across defence and maritime programmes.
• Support modelling, integration, verification, and acceptance activities.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to multidisciplinary teams.
• Collaborate with project managers and SMEs to ensure delivery.
• Manage risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies; escalate when needed.
• Review and assure quality of technical deliverables.
• Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
• Contribute to technical reviews and customer presentations.
• Mentor junior systems engineers.
