Babcock is rapidly establishing itself as an international Naval ship designer and builder. We have built on the success of the UK MoD Frigates and have secured contracts for frigate export variants (AH) with overseas customers. As well as supporting exports of frigates, the engineering team is actively working on other ship newbuild and life extension programs around the world, from small fast attack craft to aircraft carriers.

The role
As a Senior Marine Structural Engineer, you will hold a highly prestigious position within our complex shipbuilding program, developing designs through concept and early-stage design, as well as supporting the bidding process. This role offers the opportunity to deliver complex structural solutions within an exciting team environment, with new challenges weekly to test your skills and knowledge.
Day-to-day, you’ll be responsible for authoring, reviewing, and substantiating marine designs through calculations, simulations, commissioning, and diagnostic test support. You will contribute to and lead product development throughout the design lifecycle and provide technical support to our key customers, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of engineering outputs. You will act as Technical Authority with deep subject knowledge of marine engineering.

This is a permanent position, working Monday to Friday, with flexible working options to better balance work and personal life, including office attendance and travel as needed. We are open to discussing these arrangements further.
