Job summary

Lloyd’s Register is seeking a Marine or Mechanical Engineer to join our global team and perform engineering investigations of systems and component failures to minimise downtime for ship owners and operators. You will use core engineering skills to identify root causes and deliver customised solutions for recovery.

Reporting to the TFI Manager, you will conduct numerical assessments, prepare detailed reports, and provide on-site support when required, including travel.

Qualifications

• Degree in Marine or Mechanical Engineering from a recognised institution.
• Knowledge of marine power plant engineering and shaft alignment, vibration analysis.
• Experience with FE/BE methods and tools such as NASTRAN, ABAQUS, ANSYS.
• Ability to apply knowledge to technical investigations in marine/offshore industry.
• Technical report writing skills and Chartered status desirable.
• Proficiency in English and UK work eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Conduct numerical assessments and provide specialist advice within budget/contract parameters.
• Produce reports within agreed parameters and review colleagues' work as requested.
• Provide technical support including on-site measurements and data analysis when required.
• Discuss and present deliverables to clients and suggest alternatives where appropriate.
• Mentor/coach other technical employees to transfer knowledge.
• Undertake project management including monitoring progress and spend.
