Job summary

First Marine Solutions Ltd in Scotland seeks a Senior Marine Operative to join our team in Ferryden, Montrose on a full-time basis. You will manage, mobilise and refurbish Mooring Equipment components, work with Chain Inspection services, and support offshore operations in a safety-conscious environment.

The role requires experience in Mooring/Marine operations, ability to handle up to 20kg items, and relevant certifications; offshore work and unsociable hours may be required with increased

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience within Mooring / Marine Industry and / or Chain Inspection Operations.
  • Abrasive Wheels Training / Awareness.
  • Spooling Machine Operations experience.
  • Oxy-Fuel Gas System Training.
  • OGUK / ENG1 Medical.
  • MIST.
  • Magnetic Particle Inspection (ASNT NDT Level II).
  • Wheeled Loader certification.
  • Excavator with grapple certification.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintaining equipment per procedures and standards.
  • Assist Operations Coordinators with ID numbers and coordination tasks.
  • Ensure Equipment Management System is up to date and mobilised.
  • Assist in vessel loading/unloading at quayside and offsite with risk assessments.
  • Carry out Spooling Operations as required.
  • Maintain yard equipment in line with procedures.
  • Participate in on-call rota and offshore operations when needed.
  • Attend Toolbox Talks and HSEQ meetings as required.
  • Monitor yard consumables and tools to support upcoming operations.
  • Complete mobilisation/demobilisation paperwork with high accuracy.
  • Ensure electrical tools are calibrated and re-calibrated as needed.
  • Update Risk Assessments as necessary.
  • Carry out Magnetic Particle Inspections (MPI) as required.
  • Assist with vessel operations offshore (UKCS & Internationally).
  • Supervise local Chain Inspection services.
  • Support Chain Inspection services with UHP Water Jetting or Manual Handling.
  • Provide cover for Yard Supervisor as necessary.
  • Lead On-Call team per procedures and client requirements.
  • Provide training to employees as directed by Yard Supervisor.
  • Maintain safe housekeeping in the yard.
  • Assist with other duties as required.

Job description

First Marine Solutions (FMS) are a service provider to the local and international renewables and oil & gas sectors specialising in the engineering, design, procurement, installation, and maintenance of mooring systems for floating platforms. FMS also specialise in the planning and undertaking of marine activities related to floating platforms such as towage, vessel loadouts, marine assurance, and assisting with location planning and consent.

The Role?

Due to continued business growth, First Marine Solutions have an immediate opportunity for an experienced Senior Marine Operative, to join the team based in Ferryden, Montrose on a full time, permanent basis.

Responsible for the management, preparation, mobilisation, demobilisation, and refurbishment of Mooring Equipment components utilising mechanical and manual handling methods and managing Chain Inspection Services, as necessary.

The successful candidate will hold experience in a similar position, ideally within the Mooring / Marine Industry, be flexible in working hours, have the ability to handle heavy items (up to 20kg in accordance with Manual Handling requirements) be safety conscious with the ability to put safety at the forefront of tasks in a high pressured environmentand hold Forklift (over 15tonne), Banksman / Slinger and Abrasive Wheels certification.

Offshore Certification is preferred but not mandatory, however, candidates will be willing to develop into supporting offshore requirements in accordance with the company's development plans.

On call / Unsociable working hours may be required during peak operations, increased rates apply.

What will you do?

This list does not represent an exhaustive list but indicates the main responsibilities the post holder will be required to undertake:

  • Responsible for ensuring all equipment is maintained in accordance with company procedures and necessary standards.
  • Assist the Operations Coordinator(s) as required with tasks such as ID number taking as required.
  • Liaise with the Operations Coordinator(s) to ensure the Equipment Management System remains up to date, and all equipment is ready to be mobilised.
  • Assist in vessel loading / unloading at quayside / offsite, ensuring the company's Risk Assessments are adhered to, as necessary.
  • Carry out Spooling Operations as required.
  • Ensure yard equipment maintenance is carried out in accordance with company procedures.
  • Participate in an on-call rota and support unsociable hours operations, as necessary.
  • Participate in Toolbox Talks, Operational and HSEQ Meetings as required.
  • Assist to communicate with the Operations Coordinator(s) to ensure all yard consumables and tools remain at an acceptable stock level in order to support upcoming operations.
  • Complete relevant mobilisation and demobilisation paperwork ensuring a high level of accuracy to support the equipment management process.
  • Ensure electricaltools are calibrated as necessary prior to utilising, raising any requirements to the Operations Coordinator(s) to arrange for re-calibration.
  • Assist to update Risk Assessments, as necessary.
  • Assist to carry out Magnetic Particle Inspections (MPI) as necessary.
  • Assist with vessel operations offshore as required (UKCS & Internationally).
  • Supervise local Chain Inspection services, as necessary.
  • Carry out supporting roles for Chain Inspection services such as UHP Water Jetting and / or Manual Handling.
  • Provide sufficient cover for Yard Supervisor, as necessary.
  • Lead On-Call team, ensuring all tasks are carried out in accordance with company procedures and client requirements, liaising with the Operations Supervisor / Coordinator(s), as necessary.
  • Provide support and carry out employee training as directed by the Yard Supervisor
  • Assist to ensure housekeeping is maintained in the yard, ensuring all work areas are safe to carry out activities.
  • Assist with any other duties as required.
