Your contribution at AIG

As a Marine Claims Adjuster, you will handle marine claims of varying complexity and value. The handling will start from first notification through policy & legal liability assessment, quantum analysis to timely and accurate resolution, whilst mitigating indemnity and expense exposure. You will communicate developments and outcome as necessary to all key stakeholders (internal and external) and provide a high standard of customer service while adhering to claims handling best practices and legal, regulatory and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Managing key claims handling enquiries; coverage determination, quantum analysis and legal liability assessment, within authority limits and providing a high standard of customer service.
  • Resolving issues that require good knowledge and judgement, and escalating more complex issues to Major Loss Adjusters.
  • Ensuring effective vendor and litigation management on complex claims within a personal allocation.
  • Broader internal/external stakeholder communication where required, including with underwriters, clients, brokers and surveyors.
  • Striving for continuous improvement on claim file handling with feedback and support through the Quality Assurance Review processes.
  • Contributing to the maintenance of best practice procedures for (LoB) complex claims, consistent with global best practice.
  • Demonstrating a high standard of technical claims competence.
  • Timely, accurate and customer‑focused claim resolution, minimising indemnity exposure and mitigating vendor and legal expense.
  • Communicating key complex claims and (LoB) portfolio messages to internal stakeholders.
  • Maintaining financial control through consistent reserving and other financial transaction discipline.
  • Providing accurate and consistent policy interpretation.
  • Supporting the wider team in claims performance‑orientated tasks and reporting as required.
  • Supporting the wider team in ad‑hoc projects as required.

  • Policy language skills enabling accurate and consistent policy wording interpretation.
  • Experience of using ECF helpful but not essential.
  • A working knowledge of legal / regulatory and litigation / procedural requirements for their line of business.
  • Experience in effectively following up on recommendations from technical claims audits and continuous claim handling improvement.
