Job summary

Manpower UK Ltd invites applications for a Manufacturing Test Engineer (Shift Based) in Stafford. The role supports the Test team to enhance and sustain HVDC test facilities, ensuring safe, efficient operation of test cells and equipment.

You will generate documentation, provide hands-on support, and contribute to department projects. The position involves hands-on troubleshooting, equipment maintenance, and collaboration with IT/OT teams to integrate test software with business systems.

Qualifications

  • Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline.
  • Experience with high voltage safety practices and risk assessments.

Responsibilities

  • Support test infrastructure and resolve technical issues to improve test capability.
  • Provide day-to-day technical support for running and maintaining test equipment.
  • Assist with development of test infrastructure, procurement, and maintenance with suppliers.
  • Follow calibration, maintenance, and change-management processes for test facilities.
  • Contribute to NPI activities for test facilities and collaborate on PD/QA improvements.
  • Work with engineering teams to define test strategies and specifications.
  • Integrate test software with business software systems with IT/OT teams.
  • Create training materials, SOPs, risk assessments, and documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve KPIs such as OEE, throughput, and FPY.
  • Troubleshoot, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Support test operators and technicians with troubleshooting and training.

Job description

Role: Manufacturing Engineer

Location: Stafford

Duration: 12 months

Rate: £350/day

Manufacturing Test Engineer (Shift Based)

The Manufacturing Test Engineer will work with the Test team to improve and support the capability and capacity of the test facilities for HVDC manufacturing. They will drive and support safe and effective use of test cells by providing hands on support, generating documentation and supporting departmental projects

Responsibilities
  • Support manufacturing test infrastructure activities, helping to resolve technical issues and contributing to the development of test capability.
  • Provide day-to-day technical support for the running, maintenance, and breakdown response of test equipment.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of new test infrastructure and tools. Work with suppliers and contractors to support test facility build, commissioning, and maintenance activities.
  • Follow and support processes for test facilities and equipment, including change management, scheduled calibration, and preventative maintenance.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities for test facilities, including requirements input, equipment procurement, and test sequence updates.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support New Product Development (NPD), issue resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work with engineering teams to help define and develop manufacturing test strategies and specifications.
  • Support integration of test software systems with business software systems in collaboration with IT and OT teams.
  • Create and maintain training materials, SOPs, risk assessments, and other supporting documentation for test processes and equipment.
  • Identify and support continuous improvement opportunities for test processes and infrastructure to improve KPIs such as OEE, throughput, and FPY.
  • Carry out fault-finding, root cause investigation, and corrective actions for test equipment and process issues.
  • Support test operators and technicians with troubleshooting, training, and day-to-day technical guidance.
Skills & Experience
  • A process driven mindset backed by a 'can do' attitude and a desire to learn
  • Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline.
  • A strong understanding of working safely in a high voltage environment, including using tools such as risk assessments, FMEA, SSoW, LOTO, etc..
  • Demonstrable experience in structured troubleshooting to debug failed PCBs, machinery, test cells.
  • 3+ years' experience in manufacturing test facility maintenance.
Desirable
  • Experience of automated test equipment (NI LabVIEW & TestStand)
  • Demonstrable knowledge of power electronics, product manufacturing and testing
