Job summary

NES Fircroft are recruiting a Manufacturing Test Engineer (shift-based) for a 12-month contract located in Stafford. You will support test infrastructure, resolve technical issues, and help develop test capabilities across manufacturing cells and NPI/test facility projects.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in test facility maintenance, strong high-voltage safety knowledge, and proven trouble-shooting skills with PCB/machinery and test equipment. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' experience in manufacturing test facility maintenance.
• Strong safety practices in high voltage environments and use of risk assessments, FMEA, SSoW, LOTO.

Responsibilities

• Support manufacturing test infrastructure, resolving technical issues and developing test capability.
• Provide day-to-day technical support for running, maintenance, and breakdown response of test equipment.
• Develop and implement new test infrastructure and tools.
• Collaborate with suppliers/contractors for test facility build, commissioning, and maintenance.
• Follow change management, calibration, and preventative maintenance processes.
• Support NPI activities for test facilities including equipment procurement and test sequence updates.
• Collaborate across functions on NPD, issue resolution, and continuous improvement.
• Define and develop manufacturing test strategies and specifications with engineering teams.
• Integrate test software with business software in collaboration with IT/OT teams.
• Create training materials, SOPs, risk assessments, and documentation for tests.
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve KPIs (OEE, throughput, FPY).
• Perform fault-finding, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
• Support test operators/technicians with troubleshooting and guidance.

Manufacturing Test Engineer (Shift Based)

Location: Stafford

Contract position: 12 months

Responsibilities - What you'll do

• Support manufacturing test infrastructure activities, helping to resolve technical issues and contributing to the development of test capability
• Provide day-to-day technical support for the running, maintenance, and breakdown response of test equipment
• Assist with the development and implementation of new test infrastructure and tools
• Work with suppliers and contractors to support test facility build, commissioning, and maintenance activities
• Follow and support processes for test facilities and equipment, including change management, scheduled calibration, and preventative maintenance
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities for test facilities, including requirements input, equipment procurement, and test sequence updates
• Collaborate cross-functionally to support New Product Development (NPD), issue resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Work with engineering teams to help define and develop manufacturing test strategies and specifications
• Support integration of test software systems with business software systems in collaboration with IT and OT teams
• Create and maintain training materials, SOPs, risk assessments, and other supporting documentation for test processes and equipment
• Identify and support continuous improvement opportunities for test processes and infrastructure to improve KPIs such as OEE, throughput, and FPY
• Carry out fault-finding, root cause investigation, and corrective actions for test equipment and process issues
• Support test operators and technicians with troubleshooting, training, and day-to-day technical guidance

Skills & Experience - What you'll bring

Essential

• A process driven mindset backed by a 'can do' attitude and a desire to learn
• A strong understanding of working safely in a high voltage environment, including using tools such as risk assessments, FMEA, SSoW, LOTO, etc.
• Demonstrable experience in structured troubleshooting to debug failed PCBs, machinery, test cells
• 3+ years' experience in manufacturing test facility maintenance
• Be able to communicate ideas, concepts and results to non-technical stakeholders
• Demonstrable experience in following and improving test specifications

Desirable

• Experience of automated test equipment (NI LabVIEW & TestStand)
• Demonstrable knowledge of power electronics, product manufacturing and testing
• [Desirable] Experience supporting New Product Development (NPD) activities
• [Desirable] Exposure to lean manufacturing environment
