Job description

Location: Home Based, UK

Salary: £65,000 Basic + Benefits


Our client is a leading provider of editorial, peer review, production and content services. Due to continued growth, they are searching for a new Senior Managing Editor to oversee a team of 8 people.


As a key member of the UK leadership team, you will play a vital role in advancing the company’s mission to deliver top-tier editorial services. This is achieved through strategic oversight and a strong focus on meeting the specific needs of each client partnership.


You will be accountable for upholding the highest editorial standards—both in your direct contributions to the client account and in overseeing the work of support staff assigned to the account. In managing high-volume editorial workflows, you will ensure all work adheres to established processes and meets service level agreements, while also identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency and implement innovative solutions where appropriate.


Skills & Experience:
  1. At least 10 years of progressive management experience within the scholarly publishing industry
  2. Proven track record in delivering editorial services, with direct oversight of large journal accounts or multiple journal titles
  3. Experience in leading, managing, and motivating diverse teams
  4. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and familiarity with SharePoint preferred
  5. Demonstrated ability to analyse workflows and optimise operational processes
  6. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across all levels of publishing organisations
  7. Skilled in developing and delivering high-quality, impactful presentations
  8. Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting deadlines
  9. Willingness to maintain a flexible work schedule to accommodate standard client availability expectations
  10. Occasional travel may be required
