Do you enjoy tax technical research and solving complex technical queries? We are looking for a talented individual at Senior Manager level, from either a corporate or mixed tax background, to be part of our national Central Technical Team. The ideal candidate will have very strong technical skills, drive, and curiosity.

The Central Technical team works with teams across the tax practice to collect, create, curate, and communicate technical insights for the benefit of our teams and clients. This involves original research, analyzing knowledge submissions, producing and maintaining technical resources, assisting with complex queries, producing newsletters, and monitoring tax developments.

We are expanding the team to increase technical expertise, expand our technical guidance collection, and integrate new technologies including AI tools.

Team members are based across the UK, supporting hybrid and flexible working. While not directly client-facing, understanding client issues is essential.

Responsibilities

  1. Managing the production of technical reference and thought leadership materials.
  2. Developing guidance structures on relevant topics.
  3. Conducting independent research to draft technical materials based on legislation, case law, and guidance, incorporating insights from various sources.
  4. Supporting and reviewing research carried out by others.
  5. Maintaining and updating materials for legal and practical changes.
  6. Supporting client service teams with complex technical queries.
  7. Engaging with HMRC and HMT on relevant issues.
  8. Supporting technology development, including AI tools.
  9. Providing technical support for training, including developing and reviewing content.

Requirements

  1. Relevant legal or tax qualification (CTA or equivalent).
  2. Ability to conduct tax research and critically assess analysis against legislation and case law.
  3. Confidence in explaining legislation and case law application.
  4. Strong writing skills.
  5. Good understanding of the UK tax system and ability to learn new regimes quickly.
  6. Awareness of client issues and risk management.
  7. Knowledge of tax technology tools, including AI.
  8. Practical advice delivery experience is desirable but not essential.
