Job description

Do you want to help develop the industry’s best cloud-based solutions architects by enabling and coaching them on best practices, solution selling, presentation and speaking skills, as well as how to create and present architectures of widely varying size and complexity?

We’re seeking an accomplished leader to build out a high performing Solution Architecture team aligned to the APJ geography. As a self-starter willing to operate in a multifaceted way, you should have experience in complex architecture of cloud infrastructure and/or enterprise applications, and possess top of the line leadership skills with the ability to execute on key business initiatives. In this role, you’ll drive revenue growth across a broad set of customers, ranging from start-ups to large enterprises.

Key job responsibilities

1. As a key member of the business development and account management teams, ensure success in building and migrating applications, software, and services onto the AWS platform.
2. Partner with the account management team to formulate and execute a customer-focused strategy to drive adoption of AWS.
3. Hire, onboard, train, and develop new Solutions Architects.
4. Coach Solutions Architects in skills needed to conduct technical sessions and transfer deep technical knowledge to customers considering or using AWS.
5. Share best-practice knowledge amongst the AWS solutions architect community.
6. Guide and motivate the development of customer-facing guidance such as whitepapers and data sheets.
7. Act as a liaison between customers, service engineering teams, and support.

A day in the life

Your technical depth, business aptitude, and ability to steer technology discussions will enable you to shape your team’s customer and solution selling capabilities. You will help team members ramp-up on AWS and develop their presentation, writing, and executive interaction skills.

You will engage with customers and partners to design scalable, flexible, and resilient cloud architectures, collaborating with sales and other teams to address customer needs, accelerate AWS adoption, and drive revenue growth.

About the team

This role is within the Japan CSC Solution Architecture team, part of AWS’s inside sales organization focused on new customer acquisitions across APJ. You will work cross-functionally with stakeholders from sales, operations, partners, and marketing, contributing to a new AWS initiative.

• Successful candidates must be located in Japan and able to work at our Tokyo Office.
• Occasional domestic and international travel may be required.

Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or related field.
• 15+ years in technology domains such as software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, etc.
• 5+ years in a technical leadership role developing teams of motivated technologists.
• Experience in developing technology solutions and guiding IT transformation towards cloud computing.
• Experience communicating with technical and non-technical audiences, including C-level.
• Fluent in Japanese and English (speaking, reading, writing).

Preferred qualifications

• MBA or equivalent.
• Broad technology experience including cloud architecture, application development, databases, analytics, machine learning, security, storage, DevOps, containers, serverless, CI/CD, and cloud migrations.
• Experience with cloud solutions on AWS, Azure, or GCP, and migrating legacy solutions to the cloud.
• Ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly.
