Our UK Insurance Technology practice empowers some of the biggest Insurance clients to solve their most complex business problems and transform their organisations through embedding the latest technology.

The opportunity

As part of the EY Consulting Insurance Technology practice, you will have the opportunity to work across a portfolio of engagements that will challenge you in areas such as Insurance Core Platform implementations, leveraging emerging technology within the insurance domain, and technology-enabled business transformations. Our EMEIA focus means that our team has a footprint that spans several geographies in Europe, and continued investment in our practice has grown the team circa 30% year-on-year.

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals with an agile mindset, problem-solving skills, industry knowledge of Insurance and/or Technology Consulting practices to support our strong capabilities and fuel our continued growth.

Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with clients to establish a business-driven vision for their IT systems, processes, and infrastructure by applying leading practices and improving capabilities.
• Create IT strategies and architecture roadmaps, including transition stages toward final goals.
• Understand the full architecture stack, including network, data, application, system, security, and integration architectures.
• Develop artefacts at appropriate levels of detail for effective communication with business and technical audiences.
• Define and document key design decisions based on engagement objectives.
• Coordinate with business and technical teams during solution design and delivery phases.
• Provide technical expertise in evaluating and selecting software products, standards, and designing configurations.
• Lead EY practice and people development activities, building and leading high-performing teams.
• Support architecture governance in line with industry best practices, standards, and client policies.

Skills and attributes for success

• Minimum 8 years experience as an Architect.
• Over 10 years in Financial Services Technology.
• Good knowledge of ERD/UML/process diagram notations.
• Proficiency in enterprise integration patterns.
• Ability to articulate technical solutions and build relationships.
• Experience with Guidewire, Fadata, Duckcreek, Pega, etc.
• Expertise in technology architecture including enterprise, solution, infrastructure, security, and data.
• Experience in large-scale program delivery (agile and waterfall).
• Knowledge of cloud solutions, AI, microservices, and emerging tech.
• Strong communication skills, ability to work under pressure, and stakeholder management skills.

Minimum qualifications

• Structured thinking and communication skills.
• Experience in Insurance through top-tier consultancy or insurer.
• Experience as an architect, aligning solutions with business strategy.
• Business and technical analysis skills.
• Insurance industry knowledge.
• Proven delivery success and understanding of SDLC and Agile.

Preferred qualifications

• Familiarity with AWS/Azure cloud stacks.
• Understanding of TDD/BDD practices.
• Knowledge of blockchain, microservices, and emerging tech.
• Market trend awareness.
• Business development and client management experience.
• TOGAF 9.1 and/or Zachman certification.
