We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Senior Manager - Sanctions Policy and Regulatory Developments.

You will report into the Head of Sanctions Policy and Regulatory Development and, as a core member of the team, will take accountability for: (i) managing and developing the sanctions elements of HSBC's Global Financial Crime Policy; (ii) establishing and communicating HSBC's policy position and risk appetite in response to changes in sanctions laws, regulation, resolutions and regulatory guidance; (iii) analysing emerging sanctions laws, regulations and geopolitical events to adequately prepare HSBC for potential future changes; and (iv) managing and developing critical sanctions-related training.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead in evaluating key sanctions-related regulatory and legislative changes, and driving changes to HSBC's risk appetite and policy position, where required;
  • Lead and develop sanctions horizon scanning activities, including publication of regular analysis to help HSBC understand whether our current policies, procedures and controls are adequately designed to deal with potential changes in the international sanctions landscape or whether any proactive actions are required to improve our preparedness to any legislative or geopolitical change;
  • Be the primary point of contact for sanctions policy and regulatory related queries, providing clear advice and guidance to stakeholders across all levels of the organisation.
  • Lead in drafting and continuously developing the sanctions elements of the Global Financial Crime Policy, and Global Sanctions Operating Procedures;
  • Provide subject-matter expertise in the review and challenge of sanctions-related dispensation requests, sanctions-related variances in Local Financial Crime Policies, and potential sanctions breaches;
  • Proactively review management information to identify trends, emerging risks and themes to drive continuous improvement of sanctions policies, procedures and processes;
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of sanctions-related training, including Global Mandatory Training, Sanctions Officer Training and Group Sanctions Masterclass series training.

To be successful in this role you will need to have:

  • Extensive knowledge of sanctions laws, regulations and guidance, in particular US, UK, EU and UN.
  • Ability to interpret sanctions laws and regulations and create compliant, practical and efficient policy solutions.
  • Proven ability of drafting policies, procedures, guidance and communications.
  • Experience of managing and continuously developing policies.
