Main purpose of the role: Support our Smoke Free Products' categories from a Product Policy perspective.

Accountabilities:

  1. Provides support from an External Affairs (EA) product policy perspective to all products covered by the respective Smoke Free Products' categories (incl. products in the pipeline) in order to deliver EA’s assessment and advice, securing coherence of regulatory approach across all Smoke Free Products categories.
  2. Monitors regulatory developments & trends related to Smoke Free Products categories impacting regulatory (product) classification, product features, commercial freedoms, etc.
  3. Monitors the market in terms of emerging Smoke Free Products (incl. products which may be considered as substitutes) and regulatory developments related to these products, in order to identify regulatory opportunities and threats, and identify potential directions in which regulations can evolve, to better inform strategic decisions of the Smoke Free Products Categories Managements.
  4. In close collaboration and alignment with EA Category Heads, Regulatory Policy and Fiscal Policy Teams, prepares recommendations on regulatory approach (e.g., regulatory classification / product definitions, etc.).
  5. Engages with markets to provide bespoke EA product policy advice & materials, in line with the approach agreed with the Smoke Free Products Categories Managements.
  6. Elaborates strategies on how regulations could evolve to ensure products can be placed and maintained on the markets.

Deliverables:

  1. Provides analysis of current regulatory environment as well as emerging regulatory trends vs their impact on the current Smoke Free Products portfolio and future product innovation.
  2. Actively contributes to development of regulatory recommendations, in close collaboration with other EA Policy teams (Regulatory, Fiscal, ESG).
  3. Provides narratives to EA regions and markets.
  4. Provides assessments of new products (design and composition) against current and future regulations.
  5. Provides input on regulatory blueprints.

Desired profile:

  1. Education: Scientific background (physics, chemistry, biology or related fields).
  2. Related work experience (8 years +).
  3. Scientific/Regulatory/Gov/corporate Affairs (market, region, HQ) in highly regulated products (tobacco & nicotine a plus).
  4. Good business understanding & Experience in collaboration with commercial teams is a plus.
  5. Experience in commercial is a plus.
  6. Ability to develop and prepare issue papers, advocacy materials and executive-level presentations that are impactful, comprehensible and bridge policy and politics.
  7. Ability to analyze the link between regulatory framework / trends and business development / product commercialization (e.g., identifying regulatory risks vs opportunities in the context of product portfolio development).
  8. Ability to analyze issues and develop logical, customer-centric solutions, and distill into concise, comprehensible and impactful recommendations.
  9. Ability to manage complexity and collaboration with numerous cross-functional teams (PBO).
  10. Strong interpersonal skills, analytical skills, agility, resilience, outcome orientation.
