Join to apply for the Senior Manager - Procurement Capability role at Squarcle

The complexity of what the UK Government needs to procure is increasing rapidly. Your purpose is to help our clients make smarter procurement decisions, making sure public funds are spent effectively and compliantly. Not only that, but you will be deeply involved in developing AI solutions to help speed up development of procurement document and processes.

Our structure

At Squarcle, we work in a matrix structure designed to support your growth and success. You’ll have a Performance Manager to guide your career development, an Engagement Manager to support your day-to-day project work, and a Capability Lead to ensure best practice across tools, people, and processes. This role sits within our Procurement Capability, where you’ll work closely with Andrew, our Director of Procurement, and report into one of our Engagement Directors. Your Performance Manager and project assignment will be confirmed once your first engagement is agreed.

This is what you’ll be doing

As a Senior Manager within our procurement capability you’ll be joining us as we build momentum. This means there’s room for people to shape how we grow, not just keep up with it. This role will allow you to bring your start up mentality and work with our strong digital capability. Some of your key day to day activities will include:

  • Leading the delivery of commercial engagements and/or commercial workstreams within larger engagement – This includes ownership of all deliverables and programme management artifacts
  • Engaging with senior client stakeholders to develop key commercial documentation (incl. ITT, assessment methodologies, options analysis, contractual documentations, competitive flexible procedure design, etc)
  • Positively mentor and guide junior team members in their development of deliverables in order to ensure a high performance culture
  • Engagement lifecycle management – From pre-bid to project close down.
  • Utilising your procurement and commercial expertise to help our development of a suite of AI tools aiming to accelerate public procurement project delivery

We’ll continually develop and measure your success in the following areas

Each engagement will have a set of deliverables which you will be responsible for. We’ll measure your success in the following areas:

  • Assurance of your deliverables as part of our internal QA process
  • The feedback we receive from our clients
  • Your ability to identify opportunities and match our capabilities in order to further build upon our existing Markets
  • Assistance as part of our bid process
  • Offer your unique perspectives and lived experience that actively contribute to evolving and enriching our culture and business growth

Where you’ll be stretched (and thrive):

  • We’re growing fast: That means there isn’t always a playbook. You’ll need to be proactive, resourceful, and ready to make things happen
  • We’re a multifaceted team: You’ll often wear multiple hats. Sometimes you’ll be doing work outside your job title – from rolling up your sleeves to supporting colleagues when priorities shift
  • Consulting isn’t always smooth sailing: Client needs evolve, projects pivot, and ambiguity is part of the job. You’ll need to be adaptable, calm under pressure, and comfortable navigating change

We think you’ll love:

  • Chart your own course: In a fast growing company like ours , there’s real freedom to shape your role, influence decisions, and take ownership – without the layers of red tape that slow bigger organisations down
  • Work that matters: You’ll partner with strategic clients doing work that’s critical to the country – helping them buy smarter, unlock value, and deliver outcomes that make a real difference
  • Procurement meets digital: You’ll work side by side with digital specialists to co-create tools, automate processes, and build smarter ways of working – for both our business and our clients

This isn’t just another consulting role. It’s a chance to be part of something growing, ambitious, and meaningful.

The skills you’ll need to succeed in this role

  • Deep knowledge of public procurement: You’ll have strong technical understanding of the Procurement Act 2023 and the previous regulations (i.e. PCR2015), and how they apply in real-world settings.
  • Consulting experience: You’ve delivered multiple client-facing procurement/commercial projects, in a complex public sector environment.
  • Commercial delivery skills: From developing contract schedules, producing options analysis, to shaping Green Book business cases, and leading complex procurements, you know this space like the back of your hand
  • Great communicator: You present ideas clearly and authentically, and you’re comfortable in the room with stakeholders at all levels
  • Stakeholder confidence: You're used to navigating complex organisations and building trusted relationships with senior leaders

How We’ll Assess Your Skills

Our interview process for this role will involve three steps:

Step 1: Meet with our Recruitment Manager, Corina. She’ll introduce you to Squarcle, the role, and answer any questions you may have about us. We’ll be assessing some basic skills for the role and finding out more about your background.

Step 2: Meet with our Director of Procurement Capability, Andrew. He’ll be asking you questions around your capability, and answering any specific questions you may have about the role.

Step 3: Meet with our Director Capability and Innovation, John. He’ll be doing a deeper dive on your consulting capabilities and your culture contribution.

What we offer

We believe great work deserves great rewards. Here’s what you can expect as part of the team:

  • 26 days of annual leave (including your birthday!) plus UK bank holidays — increasing to 27 days after three years, and 28 after seven years
  • You’ll also get five extra days for your five and 10 year anniversaries
  • Additional leave for members of the Reserve Forces and CFAV.
  • Private medical insurance - provided once you’ve completed your probation.
  • Milestone and life-event hampers to celebrate life’s big moments
  • Funding for qualifications that benefit both you and the business
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Discounted travel through funded railcards

We review our benefits regularly to ensure they stay competitive and meaningful - so this list may evolve as we grow.
