Senior Manager of Software Engineering - Salesforce - Squad Lead - Nutmeg

JPMorgan Chase & Co. London, United Kingdom

Job Description

Behind every investment is a person with ambitions, motivations, and values. While we know that every client is unique, they come to Nutmeg for the same reason: our straightforward and transparent approach to investing.

Nutmeg is a J.P. Morgan company offering award-winning investments, products, and digital wealth management services to over 250,000 investors in the UK. We built the business from scratch, with constant innovation a core part of our ethos since the beginning. We aim to provide clients with the best digital investing experience, ensuring digital security and customer satisfaction — meaning you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference.

As a Manager of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the International Consumer Bank, you will be a credible engineering leader, in charge of a squad of Salesforce engineers. You should be technically savvy to influence your squad's technical implementations and confident enough to challenge architecture decisions, maintaining focus on delivering customer value sustainably and demonstrating it every step of the way. You will also develop standalone products on Salesforce, as well as integrate with Nutmeg services to build the best customer experience.

Our Invest team is focused on transforming innovative ideas into impactful solutions for our customers. We seek individuals with a curious mindset, who thrive in collaborative environments, and are passionate about new technology. Our people are solution-oriented, commercially savvy, and have a head for fintech. We work in tribes and squads dedicated to specific products and projects, with opportunities to move between them based on your strengths and interests.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Lead a squad of engineers to design, implement, and maintain the Salesforce CRM area within the Invest Tribe at Chase UK.
  2. Line-manage an engineering squad; set goals, support development, and enhance the team's delivery capabilities.
  3. Conduct code reviews to ensure high-quality, maintainable, and efficient code, providing constructive feedback.
  4. Engage in hands-on coding to develop key features and solutions, demonstrating best practices and technical expertise.
  5. Set high standards for code quality, work ethic, and collaboration within your squad.
  6. Mentor and guide engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  7. Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to align technical efforts with business goals.
  8. Facilitate team meetings and retrospectives to promote open communication.
  9. Work with Technical Leads and Principal Engineers to design scalable, robust, and maintainable solutions.
  10. Operate with a data-driven mindset; establish and track metrics related to delivery, system health, and customer journeys.
  11. Promote an inclusive culture of high-quality engineering and implement best practices.
  12. Own architecture decisions for Salesforce and navigate technical governance forums for approvals.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • Formal training or certification in team management concepts and advanced experience.
  • Strong technical background with excellent teamwork skills, focused on collaborative outcomes.
  • Business-driven mindset; ability to understand requirements and develop optimal engineering solutions.
  • Progressive mindset; willing to challenge the status quo to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Extensive experience with Salesforce automation, deployment, releases, and testing in CI/CD pipelines.
  • Proven track record in designing and operating CRM features using Salesforce (Service, Sales, Marketing Cloud).
  • Hands-on experience with REST APIs and event-based integrations.
  • Strong people management skills, with focus on talent acquisition, retention, and growth.
  • Passion for creating clean, maintainable, and testable code and components.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • Experience with different integration patterns.
  • Marketing Cloud experience.
  • Knowledge of data and process modeling tools.
  • Experience with AI/ML technologies in CRM.
  • Multiple Salesforce certifications.
