This is a permanent, hybrid role and you must be prepared and willing to be in office 3 days per week in Farnborough with regular travel to Bristol and Derby.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll take the reins of the day to day UK financial function, overseeing everything from accounting to controls. This is a hands-on leadership role, perfect for someone who knows when to zoom into detail and when to step back and see the big picture.

Here’s What You’ll Lead

1. Month-End Mastery: Guide the team through seamless month-end closes, delivering insightful management accounts and reports.
2. Budgeting & Forecasting: Provide insightful variance analysis, helping leaders make confident, data-backed decisions.
3. Process Improvement: You’ll always be looking to refine how we do things — smarter, faster, more accurate, always compliant.
4. Commercial Insight: Go beyond the numbers. Help the business understand the why behind the data, not just the what.
5. Audit & Statutory Reporting: Run the day-to-day audit process, prepare UK statutory accounts, and ensure full regulatory compliance across VAT, corporation tax and more.
6. Strategic Partnering: Collaborate with senior leaders and our US counterparts to support strategic initiatives, control costs, and anticipate financial impacts of new plans.

What You Bring to the Table

We’re Looking For a Confident Finance Leader Who’s Not Just Technically Strong, But Also a Great People Person And Natural Collaborator. Here’s What We’d Love To See

1. Substantial progressive experience across full-cycle accounting, ideally within a fast-paced or scaling environment.
2. Strong knowledge of ERP systems (NetSuite preferred), plus advanced Excel skills for insightful reporting and analysis.
3. Solid understanding of technical accounting standards, especially FRS 102; US GAAP knowledge is a plus.
4. Demonstrate attention to detail with a clear understanding of the fundamentals — you can confidently handle everything from a balance sheet rec to a double entry.
5. Highly organized and detail-oriented, able to juggle multiple tasks and deadlines with ease.
6. A calm, resilient presence who handles pressure well, embraces change, and remains focused through ambiguity.
7. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information clearly at every level of the business and distill complex data into compelling insights for leadership and stakeholders.
8. A natural coach and mentor, with a passion for developing team members and understanding what motivates different individuals.
9. Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally, building strong relationships with both.
10. Curious and improvement-focused with a constant drive for process improvement — always looking to refine processes, improve efficiency, and help the business scale smoothly.
