Job description

Our National Tax team is recruiting for a Senior Manager with a corporate tax background. Our National Tax team has a key role in ensuring clients always receive high quality services. The team provide policy, technical and risk management support to those in the corporate tax teams at Saffery.

The role will involve:

• Keeping up-to-date with tax developments and communicating them internally, both in meetings and through written articles and updates.
• Working with tax colleagues to share the impact of relevant tax changes with clients and potential clients, such as through website articles, webinars, podcasts, press comments and events.
• Assisting with information sharing across teams on tax matters.
• Assisting colleagues resolve tax queries.
• Assisting with responses to tax-related consultations.
• Assisting with our response to the Budget and other key fiscal announcements.
• Ensuring our internal tax knowledgebase is complete and up to date, especially following tax changes.
• Managing the file review process for corporate tax, including contributing to reviewing and improving the current process and identifying and implementing improvements based on results.
• Assisting with understanding the cause of complaints, notifications and PI claims and implementing changes to prevent recurrence.
• Assisting with reviewing/writing tax policies and procedures and training colleagues on them.
• Helping design, plan and run our tax technical training programmes.
• Helping with other National Tax initiatives, as needed.

You

The successful candidate will be self-motivated and able to produce high quality work without close supervision. They will also require the following:

• Tax technical background (ACA and CTA preferably), with the ability to pick up and understand issues from across a range of taxes quickly.
• Experience working in a professional services firm.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to express complex issues simply and to write for a variety of audiences, both internal and external.
• Passion for sharing knowledge and improving the processes and technologies that help people to do so.
• Strong organisational skills and a desire to take ownership of their work.
• Strong networking skills and the ability to build relationships both virtually and in person.
• Ability to work with those at all grades across the firm, including the ability to challenge partners/directors where required.

• A 35-hour working week with a hybrid working policy with the flexibility to work from home for up to three days per week (our core hours are 10-4)
