Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years' compliance advisory experience, preferably within motor finance.
  • Wider consumer credit compliance experience will also be considered.
  • Specialist knowledge of CONC and its application to consumer credit products, customer journeys and governance.
  • Experience at a senior level, influencing senior collaborators and contributing to governance forums.
  • Working knowledge of the Consumer Credit Act 1974 is desirable.

  • Develop robust governance papers, risk assessments and evidence-based decisions.
  • Line manage, coach and develop junior colleagues and promote strong conduct risk awareness.

JOB TITLE: Senior Manager - Motor Finance Compliance

SALARY: £85,493 - £100,580

LOCATIONS: Edinburgh, Bristol, Leeds, Halifax, Birmingham

HOURS: Full-time

WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites.

About this opportunity

The Senior Manager - Motor Finance Compliance leads the provision of proactive, pragmatic and risk-based Conduct and Compliance Risk support to the Motor Finance business. The role acts as a senior second-line partner, helping the business interpret and meet regulatory expectations while supporting good customer outcomes, effective risk management and sustainable commercial delivery.

Working closely with senior business and control function collaborators, the role provides clear, authoritative and commercially aware compliance advice across products, customer journeys, change activity, governance and oversight. It supports informed risk-based decision making, provides constructive challenge where required, attends relevant governance forums and committees, and ensures key conduct and compliance risks are identified, assessed, managed and evidenced appropriately.

The Senior Manager also plays a key role in shaping and delivering the Compliance oversight plan for Motor Finance, using insight, management information, assurance findings and regulatory developments to identify emerging risks, influence priorities and drive continuous improvement in the control environment. The role includes line management responsibilities, the coaching and development of junior colleagues, and deputising for the Head of Compliance as required.

  • Deputise for the Head of Compliance where required, including in senior collaborator discussions and governance activity.

Experience required:
  • Minimum of five years' compliance advisory experience, preferably within motor finance.

  • Wider consumer credit compliance experience will also be considered.

  • Demonstrable specialist knowledge of CONC, including its application to consumer credit products, customer journeys, governance and oversight activity.

  • Experience operating at a senior level, including influencing senior collaborators and chipping in to governance forums or committees.

  • Working knowledge of the Consumer Credit Act 1974 is desirable.

Skills required:
  • Strong understanding of FCA conduct requirements, Consumer Duty expectations, expert CONC knowledge and the regulatory environment for motor finance.

  • Ability to provide clear, pragmatic and risk-based compliance advice to senior collaborators.

  • Confident collaborator management, influencing and constructive challenge skills.

  • Strong judgement and analytical capability, with the ability to assess complex issues and identify key conduct and compliance risks.

  • Experience of governance, risk assessment, oversight planning and assurance activity.

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce concise advice, papers and committee input.

  • People management capability, with experience coaching, developing and supporting colleagues.

  • Ability to work independently, prioritise effectively and deputise in senior forums where required.
