Your role

RWE is one of the UK’s leading renewables generators, delivering an exciting and ambitious portfolio of clean and low carbon power projects as we progress towards our global ambition to be net zero by 2040. You will play a key role in developing and maintaining the company’s brand and its reputation as a trusted and expert partner to government and our neighbouring communities, in the decarbonisation of the UK’s energy system. As a member of RWE’s UK Communications team and the wider International Media Relations team, you will act as one of the spokespersons for RWE in the UK, covering all of the company’s UK activities, including offshore wind, onshore wind, solar, batteries, flexible generation and hydrogen. Following an integrated communications approach across all communications disciplines, you will work closely with RWE’s Group Corporate Communications & Public Affairs department. You will also support different technologies and work across cluster regions in the UK where RWE is especially active, ensuring the differing needs of individual projects, technologies, and operating companies come together under the RWE banner.

  • Manage RWE’s presence in the UK media by building reliable relationships with journalists from key UK national, trade, and regional media.
  • Develop and implement communication strategies to position RWE and its activities positively in relevant media.
  • Position RWE’s UK top management in the media by developing and executing media engagement strategies.
  • Draft and edit press releases, speeches, thought leadership articles, and explain complex political and economic matters in an understandable way.
  • Organize and support press conferences, events, and interviews with executives and experts.
  • Respond to media inquiries from national, trade, and international media outlets.
  • Monitor media coverage, send alerts, and prepare reactive statements when needed.

Qualifications and Experience

  • University degree in media, communication, journalism, economics, humanities, or related fields.
  • Several years of experience as a press spokesperson in sensitive media environments.
  • Excellent English language skills with a journalistic style, target-oriented and clear communication.
  • Awareness of various media channels, including social and digital media.
  • Ability to communicate complex energy and political topics effectively to different audiences.
  • Experience managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Team player with the ability to work independently and occasionally outside regular hours.
  • Experience working in an international corporate environment is advantageous.
  • Experience working with senior company representatives and providing expert guidance in media and communication matters.
  • Experience in media crisis management is a plus.
