The Chanel Global Insurance Team is responsible for the strategy, negotiation and placement of the Global Insurance policies, as well as the ongoing servicing of policies including associated claims. The Global Insurance Programmes are supported and administered on a day-to-day basis by the Regional Insurance Teams, with the Global Insurance Team providing direction and guidance where required in addition to the running of these insured claims.

We work closely with our Regional Teams, and our global insurance brokers (including Marsh, our Insurers and our captive manager).

This role will report to the Head of Global Insurance for Chanel. The person who takes on this role must be able to work autonomously and will take full ownership for all tasks assigned and be responsible from inception to completion of the assigned tasks.

The Role:

Insurance duties include:

  • Explaining insurance coverage details to the business entities – handling insurance queries from all entities covered under the Chanel umbrella (day-to-day queries, coverage questions) and ensuring that business requests are supported promptly.
  • Liaising with brokers and insurers to ensure both global and local policies are issued and premiums are paid timely.
  • Creating, working and maintaining large database/s which includes renewal data for all lines of insurance as well as contract management.
  • Reviewing and analysing renewal data for all insurance policies prior to submission to Insurers. Collate, review and analyse reported values for insurance programmes within given timeframes. Able to pinpoint questionable or missing data and send out requests for explanations/ background to these discrepancies
  • Being Responsible for the risk management and information system (RMIS/Origami). You will be fully responsible for the platform and troubleshooting with our IT support person. Responsibilities as follows:
    • Being responsible for governance to ensure the support model is well executed and in accordance with business plans.
    • Providing functional support to end users
    • Designing, creating and updating the system as needs evolve within and outside of the insurance function
    • Leading communication management with stakeholders
  • Reviewing global insurance binders, policies and premium invoices and other documents to ensure their accuracy and resolving discrepancies where necessary.
  • Collecting loss runs under individual policies to formulate into presentation for senior management and compile also into format to review and analyse claims trends


Additional duties include (20% of role):

  • Liaise and coordinate with external suppliers including Insurers and Brokers
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings and appointments
  • Responsible to maintain electronic and hard copy filing systems
  • Sort, keep record of and file in an orderly manner incoming and outgoing correspondence

What you will bring:

You are dependable, trustworthy and organized, capable of prioritising tasks according to urgency and importance. Your attention to detail and your discretion to handle jobs in a private manner will be crucial to perform in this role.

As you are taking the role of the “in-house broker” to Chanel and other entities under the Chanel umbrella, it is essential to be well versed with various insurance coverages but also learn quickly as policies and coverages evolve.

You must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to know when to escalate more complex issues.


Experience working in an analytical/finance role previously is advantageous

Able to work effectively and independently in a small team, within a corporate office environment

Fluent in English both spoken and written. Ability to speak either French and/or Spanish is an asset.

Proficient IT skills: MS Excel, Word, Powerpoint
