What is the opportunity?

You will oversee RBC’s compliance with applicable data protection and privacy laws, as well as RBC’s Enterprise Privacy Risk Management Policy related to HR/Employee data.

As Senior Manager, HR Privacy Risk (UK, Europe & APAC), you will focus on HR Privacy Risk and Regulatory Compliance Risk within HR’s 1st Line of Defence, making a positive impact.

This is a full-time position requiring a minimum of 4 days in the office per week, with the option to work one day from home.

What will you do?

  • Support the maintenance and enhancement of the Global Privacy Program for HR in UK, Europe, and APAC, ensuring compliance with privacy laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Handle all employee rights requests in accordance with GDPR and other applicable laws, including review and redaction of responsible material in collaboration with internal partners.
  • Manage privacy & compliance regulatory requirements across UK, Europe, and APAC, including monitoring, reporting, and responding to Privacy Incidents, requests, and risks related to HR/Employee data.
  • Respond timely and accurately to privacy complaints and queries from employees.
  • Identify, document, and track privacy risks, recommend controls, and report on risk status through organizational processes.
  • Lead risk mitigation strategies for HR/Employee data, developing partnerships and raising awareness of privacy risks.
  • Support and advise on HR/Employee data incidents and breaches, ensuring compliance with legislation and policies.
  • Develop and deliver privacy training to enhance employee awareness.
  • Promote a culture of privacy by advocating for privacy by design and sharing best practices.

  • Strong privacy expertise and knowledge of data protection laws in UK, Europe, and APAC.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills, capable of managing multiple projects.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience with process mapping and continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications.

Nice-to-have

  • Knowledge of data protection laws and practices in APAC.
  • Experience in financial services privacy programs.
  • Privacy certifications such as CIPP/E or equivalent.
  • Experience managing cross-jurisdiction privacy initiatives.
