What is the opportunity?

You will be overseeing RBC’s compliance with applicable data protection and privacy laws as well as RBC’s Enterprise Privacy Risk Management Policy related to HR/Employee data. As Senior Manager, HR Privacy Risk (UK, Europe & APAC), you will focus on HR Privacy Risk and Regulatory Compliance Risk in HR’s 1st Line of Defence. This is a full-time position requiring a minimum of 4 days in the office per week with an option to work one day from home.

What will you do?

  1. Support the maintenance and enhancement of the Global Privacy Program for Human Resources in UK, Europe, and APAC, ensuring compliance with relevant privacy laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  2. Handle all individual (employee) rights requests in compliance with GDPR and other applicable data privacy laws, including review and redaction in collaboration with internal partners.
  3. Monitor, review, report, and manage Privacy Incidents, Privacy-related requests, and other Privacy Risk Management activities related to HR/Employee data in UK, Europe, and APAC. This includes advising on privacy design, conducting risk assessments, and managing data incidents and breaches.
  4. Ensure timely and accurate handling of privacy complaints and queries from employees.
  5. Identify, document, and track privacy risks, recommending actions and reporting as required through organizational risk management processes.
  6. Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies for HR/Employee data, collaborating with stakeholders to identify and address privacy risks.
  7. Support and advise on managing HR/Employee data incidents and breaches, aligning with legislation and policies.
  8. Develop and facilitate privacy training to raise employee awareness and foster a privacy-conscious culture within HR.
  9. Promote privacy by design and best practices within Human Resources.

  • Strong privacy background with knowledge of data protection laws in UK, Europe (GDPR), and APAC.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills, with experience managing multiple projects.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience with process mapping and continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency with MS Office tools.

Nice-to-have

  • Knowledge of data protection laws in additional jurisdictions, particularly APAC.
  • Experience in Financial Services privacy programs.
  • Privacy certifications such as CIPP/E or equivalent.
