The Global Information Security Group's (GISG) Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) team defends against cyber threats through detection, investigation, and remediation.

Role summary

The GSOC Operations Manager oversees daily Security Monitoring and Response (SMR) activities, manages Levels 1-3 teams, responds to incidents, and manages KPIs. The role involves being on rota for the cyber commander and acting as the central contact for the service and member firms.

Key Accountabilities

• Manage operational delivery of GSOC SMR services, including cloud and traditional security monitoring, response, and threat intelligence.
• Oversee advanced analytics, threat modeling, and content use case management.
• Manage GSOC SMR staff across regions, including resourcing, performance, and attrition.
• Support project enhancements and ensure detection logic covers all environments.
• Coordinate with external stakeholders and support audit inquiries.

Experience / Knowledge / Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields; Master’s preferred.
• Relevant security experience and IT background.
• CISSP/CISM certifications or equivalents.
• Certifications such as GSEC or GISP are desirable.
• Deep understanding of information security, incident management, and forensics.
• Knowledge of security in on-premise and cloud environments (Azure, Google, AWS).
• Experience with threat modeling frameworks (MITRE ATT&CK, LM Cyber Kill Chain, STRIDE).
• Familiarity with security exploits, tools, and project management methodologies.
• Strong communication skills and ability to travel up to 25%.
