Argus produces price assessments and analysis of international energy and other commodity markets and offers bespoke consulting services and industry-leading conferences. Companies in 140 countries around the world use Argus data to index physical trade and as benchmarks in financial derivative markets as well as for analysis and planning purposes.

Argus was founded in 1970 and is a privately held UK-registered company. It is owned by employee shareholders, global growth equity firm General Atlantic and Hg, the specialist software and technology services investor.Argus Media is committed to ensuring career and personal growth for all its staff and provides extensive training and career development opportunities, as well as participation in employee-led initiatives, including a women’s network. Our core values are Excellence, Integrity, Partnership and Inclusivity.

Argus Consulting Services is the advisory division of Argus Media — the largest independent energy publisher in the world. We provide clients with customised analysis, research, data and commentary services on international energy markets.

Our work is firmly focused on markets — their structure, logistics and economics. Argus Consulting Services draws on Argus’ key strengths — energy markets expertise, global networks and proprietary databases — in order to deliver real client value.

Argus Consulting has two divisions. One undertakes tailor-made commissioned assignments for a wide variety of clients and across various sectors including oil & gas, petrochemicals, fertilizers, hydrogen, biofuels and energy transition solutions. The other division provides regular subscription services, again to a wide variety of clientsand across a similar range of sectors.

The Role

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced consultant to join an established and successful team of consultants and analysts covering international crude and refined products markets. This is a relatively senior hire with the potential to develop to a leadership role within the group. You will work with a small but growing team that provides regular research based analysis and forecasts of international crude, refined products and LPGmarkets. The team is responsible for the preparation and delivery of monthly products that provide clients with a forward view of supply/demand, trade and price in the short term. The team also prepares long term analysis of these markets and candidates must be able to demonstrate good understanding of the issues and challenged associated with the energy transition. The role involves helping form the direction and focus of the group’s work, preparing the appropriate products and material, developing the narrative for the clients and communicating the results to clients and others both inside and outside Argus. The candidate will also be expected to support Argus Consulting ad hoc projects as necessary.

This is a role for an experienced consultant looking to develop into a leadership role.

  • Be involved in the development and commercialisation of the existing products
  • Identify new areas of analysis

  • Strong leadership potential
  • Intellectually curious and able to demonstrate structured problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong IT skills including advanced Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks to deadline and to meet targets
  • Flexible in approach, highly motivated and eager to contribute to the growth of team.
