This role is based in our Leeds office. You’ll be expected to be on-site three days per week to support team collaboration and project delivery.

Data Governance is essential to both protect and enable Asda to derive more value from its data. We are looking for a seasoned Senior Data Governance Manager to join the Asda Data Senior Leadership team. Your role will be to lead the development and implementation of Asda’s data governance capabilities.

• Manage and lead a high-performing data governance function, including data quality, data management, and data governance roles.
• Develop and shape data governance strategies and frameworks, coordinating data management, governance, and engagement activities across Asda. Ensure adherence to data policies, standards, and regulations.
• Collaborate with the business to embed data ownership and stewardship, improve data understanding, accuracy, and efficacy through initiatives. Ensure data is managed and classified appropriately throughout its lifecycle.
• Drive initiatives to enhance data literacy across the organisation by promoting awareness of data usage practices, privacy standards, and governance frameworks, working closely with internal risk and audit teams.
• Implement best practices and new tools to define and manage business rules, data quality, master data, and metadata. Ensure effective data quality management, including issue identification, logging, root cause analysis, and resolution processes.
• Work with data architecture, engineering, and service management teams to ensure data lineage is identified, mapped, documented, and integrated into the Enterprise Data Model.

About You (Qualifications):

• You are a great communicator and facilitator, capable of working with and influencing all levels of the organisation.
• You have proven experience in leading data management and governance teams to deliver measurable benefits, with good knowledge of main frameworks, tools, and technologies.
• You possess a strong understanding of data governance principles, practices, policies, regulations, and industry standards. Practical experience in running training and education programmes across large organisations is essential.
