Job summary

PoloWorks, a leading provider of outsourced services to the insurance market, seeks a Senior Manager, Client Finance Syndicates to join its Client Finance leadership team in Cheltenham. The role focuses on financial reporting, compliance and controls across a portfolio of insurance clients, reporting to the Head of Client Finance.

You will lead a team, oversee regulatory and statutory reporting, manage financial controls and collaborate with external auditors and clients.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with strong insurance industry experience to own financial reporting, compliance and controls for a portfolio of non-Lloyd's clients.
• Strong insurance accounting experience and first-class people management skills are essential.
• Ability to engage with senior stakeholders both internally and externally.
• Experience leading teams and driving change within a regulated environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead financial reporting processes for Lloyd’s syndicates across PoloWorks, providing guidance to staff and driving remediation or process redesign as needed.
• Review financial results for Lloyd’s syndicates and ensure regulatory and statutory reporting integrity.
• Manage financial compliance and embedding robust accounting policies and controls within the client finance team.
• Onboard new clients, establish accounting policies and ensure documentation and controls are in place.

PoloWorks is a leading provider of outsourced services to the insurance market. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Senior Manager, Client Finance Syndicates to join our Client Finance leadership team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified accountant with strong insurance industry experience to take ownership of financial reporting, compliance and controls across a portfolio of non-Lloyd's insurance clients. Reporting to the Head of Client Finance, you will be responsible for financial reporting, processes and controls across Lloyd’s syndicates. The successful candidate must have strong insurance accounting experience, first class people management skills and an ability to deal with senior stakeholders both internal and external.

Key Responsibilities

• To lead the team providing financial reporting processes for Lloyd’s syndicates across PoloWorks, providing leadership and technical guidance to all staff working on these clients. Where remediation, or process redesign is required, this role is expected to lead the change, working with internal and external stakeholders to resolve any issues.
• Primary review of the financial results for Lloyd’s syndicates, including oversight of the process to ensure integrity and delivery of all regulatory and statutory financial reporting for the entities under management
• Responsibility for managing financial compliance
• Working with Client Finance Managers, play a leading role in the onboarding of new clients, reviewing/establishing accounting policies, overseeing and establishing an appropriate level of documentation and controls within the client finance team, resolving reporting/processing issues and embedding this into BAU
• Preparation of Committee papers, attending either meeting if required
• Reviewing and (where relevant) improving financial controls on a rolling basis
• Liaison with external auditors on the audit and any relevant internal audit reviews
• Management of the preparation, interpretation, maintenance and application of accounting policies in accordance with current accounting standards
• Work closely with clients on the interpretation of any new accounting standards, preparing technical papers and aligning processes to meet the new requirements
• Playing a leading role in finance projects, including IT Financial systems development where relevant
• Oversight of the work in the team, but getting into detail, resolving issues and working with clients where required
• Training and developing the team in insurance related skills at every opportunity
• Working with the Head of Client Finance and the learning and development team to understand skills gaps, identify suitable training and strengthen team knowledge
