Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior civil infrastructure leader in the United Kingdom to provide technical governance across site development programmes, from roads and drainage to bridges and coastal structures.

You will lead large multidisciplinary teams, drive safety culture, and deliver complex infrastructure packages in collaboration with plant design teams and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer status supported by a relevant engineering degree qualification or equivalent experience.
• Experience leading large multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Experience delivering complex infrastructure packages across nuclear, energy, transportation or major infrastructure programmes.
• Extensive civil infrastructure design expertise.
• Practical application of engineering standards, governance processes and design assurance activities.
• Experience integrating infrastructure solutions into complex industrial, power generation or large-scale development projects.
• Ability to build trusted relationships with stakeholders, suppliers and delivery partners.
• Experience leading, coaching and developing diverse engineering teams.
• Strong commitment to health, safety, wellbeing and continuous improvement.
• BPSS clearance, DBS check and financial probity checks are required.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and governance for civil infrastructure systems across site development programmes.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams of engineers, specialists, partners and suppliers.
• Develop engineering capability and prioritise safety, wellbeing, collaboration and professional growth.
• Manage infrastructure work packages against programme, cost, quality and safety objectives.
• Resolve complex engineering challenges and integrate infrastructure systems with plant design teams and programme stakeholders.
• Develop and implement infrastructure design strategies.
• Manage internal teams, external design partners, consultancies and supply chain organisations.
• Establish and monitor technical, programme and performance metrics.
• Lead design reviews, technical assessments and governance activities.
• Improve engineering processes, methodologies and ways of working.
• Embed health, safety and environmental considerations in infrastructure design.
• Build relationships across engineering disciplines and with external stakeholders.
• Coach and mentor engineers toward professional development, chartership and technical leadership.
• Support departmental objectives and the growth of the Civil & Structural Engineering function.

Job description

• Lead multidisciplinary teams of up to 30 engineers, specialists, partners and suppliers
• Develop engineering capability and prioritise safety, wellbeing, collaboration and professional growth
• Manage infrastructure work packages against programme, cost, quality and safety objectives
• Resolve complex engineering challenges and integrate infrastructure systems with plant design teams and programme stakeholders
• Develop and implement infrastructure design strategies

Requirements

• Chartered Engineer status (or equivalent) supported by a relevant engineering degree qualification, or equivalent demonstrable industry experience
• Experience leading large multidisciplinary engineering teams
• Experience delivering complex infrastructure packages across nuclear, energy, transportation or major infrastructure programmes
• Extensive civil infrastructure design expertise
• Practical application of engineering standards, governance processes and design assurance activities
• Experience integrating infrastructure solutions into complex industrial, power generation or large-scale development projects
