The Enterprise Risk Management function is hiring for an exciting Senior Manager opportunity focused on Artificial Intelligence (AI). As AI, including generative and agentic AI, grows across the financial sector, HSBC aims to embrace its benefits while managing the associated risks. The successful candidate will ensure that risks from AI use across HSBC Group are managed effectively, integrated into the wider risk management framework, and comply with standards, policies, procedures, and regulations.

In this role, you will:

  1. Develop HSBC's risk management framework to address AI use across the Group.
  2. Ensure effective governance, identification, measurement, and management of AI risks, providing a common language for AI risk management.
  3. Provide technical advice and support globally to ensure stakeholders understand policy requirements, controls, and risk assessments related to AI.
  4. Monitor emerging AI risks and provide guidance on controls to mitigate them.
  5. Participate in regulatory and audit engagements related to AI risk, working with Compliance and the First Line of Defense to ensure regulatory compliance and timely audit actions.
  6. Support training and capability building for stakeholders to ensure robust AI risk management.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience developing, using, or assessing AI, with an understanding of controls.
  • Background in Policy, Regulation, or Risk within the first, second, or third line of defense.
  • Knowledge of AI in financial services and the regulatory landscape.
  • Ability to provide expert advice, analysis, and challenge on risk and control issues.
  • Strong communication skills to convey complex issues clearly.
  • Effective stakeholder management and negotiation skills.

This role is based in London with a hybrid working arrangement.
