Job description

At Mace, our purpose is to redefine the boundaries of ambition. We believe in creating places that are responsible, bringing transformative impact to our people, communities and societies across the globe. To learn more about our purpose, culture, and priorities, visit our strategy site.

Within our consult business, we harness our unique combination of leading-edge practical expertise and project delivery consultancy to unlock the potential in every project.

The project:

Join our expanding Mace Advisory Centre of Excellence within Mace Consult. Our aim is to bring the best advice to our clients, developed at some of the world’s most iconic and successful projects and our team has a track record of successfully delivering a wide variety of commissions with both property and infrastructure clients across the globe. We are seeking candidates with a broad and flexible technical skillset to complement our current team by offering advice to our clients alongside Mace sector teams. You will be focussed on service excellence, continuous improvement and product development. Our ideal candidates will have strategic advisory capability which they can deploy flexibly across service lines and sectors and a specialism in one or more of our service line areas; strategy and investment, construction and productivity, strategic development, asset and portfolio performance, commercial and delivery or change and transformation.

Our values shape the way we consult and define the people we want to join us on our journey, they are:

  • Safety first - Going home safe and well

  • Client focus - Deliver on our promise

  • Integrity - Always do the right thing

  • Create opportunity - For our people to excel

Proven advisory experience in a consultancy business with a professional qualification or chartership in relation to your area of specialism and/or post graduate level study. You will have an existing network of client contacts and subject matter experts and have a track record of delivering advisory commissions.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Technical capability from strategic commercial assessments, including contract strategy, route to market, or risk-sharing aspects

  • Undertaking supply chain risk assessments and analysing the data on findings to support the development of mitigation strategies

  • Experience in aspects of change management and transformation (e.g. Operating model/organisation development/skills transfer etc.)

  • Effective communication and engagement skills with the ability to translate complex topics to accessible and compelling language

  • All candidates will be able to demonstrate a proven track record in the following areas:

  • Ensuring excellence in client liaison and service, maintaining, and developing a professional relationship with key members within our clients’ organisations.

  • Providing appropriate skills and support to business development - developing new business opportunities and working to support a range of bid activities.

  • In depth knowledge of one or more property and infrastructure sectors (e.g., Aviation, Rail, Roads, Healthcare, Nuclear, Utilities, Energy Transition, Central and Local Government.)

You’ll need to have:

  • To be able to demonstrate skills in research, analysis, generating creative ideas and optioneering as well as developing and delivering high quality presentations and reports.

  • To be digitally savvy and keen to explore the opportunities Mace has to offer.

  • To be comfortable with a degree of uncertainty, self motivated to learn new skills and explore a varied range of opportunities. We expect all our team to be adept at stakeholder engagement and client relationship management. For much of the time our Advisory Consultants are working on more than one commission and these tend to be short term so flexibility and agility are a must.

  • To be a flexible, team player you will bring a wealth of other consultancy skills across major project and programme delivery and align with the Mace values and behaviours. We’re looking for creative collaborators who generate good ideas as well as exceptional work.

  • To be a part of our Advisory Services Centre of Excellence where you will be passionate about sharing your knowledge, upskilling colleagues and supporting the development of more junior staff.

You’ll also have:

  • Degree or equivalent level of study (or equivalent).

  • Cross sector transferable skills.

Mace is an inclusive employer and welcomes interest from a diverse range of candidates. Even if you feel you do not fulfil all of the criteria, please apply as you may still be the best candidate for this role or another role within our organisation.

We are also open to discussing part-time, flexible, and hybrid working options if suitable within the role.
