Job summary

Insite Group in London is seeking a Senior Manager to lead the Accountancy & Tax Advisory portfolio, overseeing both accounts and tax work with an advisory focus.

Senior Manager - Accountancy & Tax Advisory

London | £80,000-£90,000 + Car Allowance + Benefits

A rapidly growing and highly regarded accountancy practice is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Manager to join its London team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ACA or ACCA qualified professional who wants to move beyond traditional compliance and take a genuinely advisory-led role across a varied and increasingly sophisticated client portfolio.

The firm has built an exciting client base spanning entrepreneurial businesses, high-net-worth individuals and clients with international interests. As the practice continues to grow, there is considerable scope for the successful individual to develop their own portfolio, strengthen client relationships and progress towards a more senior leadership position.

The Opportunity

This Senior Manager position offers genuine ownership from day one. You will act as a trusted adviser to a portfolio of clients, overseeing their accounting and tax affairs while becoming increasingly involved in commercial and strategic discussions.

The role has a particularly strong advisory focus across both accounts and tax. Alongside reviewing financial statements, corporation tax, VAT and personal tax work, you will help clients understand their numbers, improve systems and controls, navigate technical issues and identify where additional advice can add value.

You will also have significant exposure to international matters, working alongside senior colleagues where clients have cross-border considerations.

What you'll be doing

• Take ownership of a diverse portfolio, acting as a key point of contact across accounts, tax and wider financial matters


• Review statutory accounts, corporation tax returns, VAT returns, management accounts and personal tax work


• Provide commercially focused advice, helping clients interpret financial information and make informed decisions


• Identify opportunities for tax planning and further advisory work, working closely with specialist teams where appropriate


• Lead client meetings independently and develop strong, long-term relationships with key contacts


• Support clients with business systems, financial controls, accounting software and process improvements


• Manage and resolve HMRC enquiries, technical accounting matters and other complex client issues


• Oversee deadlines, budgets, WIP, billing and the efficient delivery of client work


• Allocate work across the team while considering both delivery requirements and individual career development


• Coach, mentor and train qualified and part-qualified staff


• Lead regular management meetings and provide updates to Partners on portfolio performance and key issues


• Contribute to improving internal processes as the practice continues to scale


• Work collaboratively with tax, payroll and other internal specialists to deliver a joined-up service


• Support business development by identifying opportunities within existing relationships and prospective clients

What we’re looking for

You are likely to be ACA, ACCA or equivalent qualified with a strong background in public practice and at least four years' post-qualified experience.

You’ll need the technical grounding to review accounts and tax work confidently, but equally important is your ability to engage with clients and turn technical information into practical commercial advice.

You’ll ideally bring:

• Strong experience within an accountancy practice environment


• Excellent knowledge of UK GAAP and/or IFRS


• Strong corporation tax, personal tax and VAT knowledge


• Proven experience reviewing accounts and tax compliance work


• Confidence managing a portfolio and acting as a senior client contact


• A genuine interest in advisory work and helping clients improve their businesses


• Previous experience supervising, developing and motivating teams


• Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills


• Experience with Xero; familiarity with IRIS or Alpha would be advantageous


• An ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with Partners and wider teams


• International tax exposure would be useful, although it is not essential
