Senior Manager

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and ambitious Senior Manager to join our growing accountancy practice in Newton Abbot. Working closely with the Partners, you will manage a diverse client portfolio, deliver high-quality accountancy and taxation services, lead and develop a talented team, and play an integral role in supporting the continued growth of the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and review a portfolio of clients, ensuring work is completed accurately and within agreed deadlines.
• Provide expert advice on corporate, personal, capital gains, and income tax matters.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted adviser.
• Attend and lead client meetings independently or alongside Partners.
• Review accounts, VAT returns, and tax compliance work for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.
• Oversee workflow management, resource allocation, and team scheduling.
• Set, monitor, and review budgets and work-in-progress (WIP).
• Raise and review client invoices and ensure fees accurately reflect services provided.
• Support business development initiatives and identify opportunities for growth.
• Undertake specialist and ad-hoc project work, including business acquisitions and sales.
• Coach, mentor, and develop team members, conducting performance reviews and supporting professional growth.
• Ensure compliance with current accounting, tax, and regulatory requirements.
• Provide leadership support and deputise for Partners when required.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• ACA or ACCA qualification.
• Minimum of 5 years' post-qualified experience.
• Strong experience within an accountancy practice environment.
• Proven background in accounts preparation, business and corporate taxation, and ideally personal taxation.
• Experience managing client portfolios and leading teams.
• Knowledge of business acquisitions and disposals.
• Strong commercial awareness and client relationship management skills.
• Experience using accounting software such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, and CCH.
• Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
