Job description

This is a brand new, client-facing, commercial-focused Senior Management Accountant position working for a fast-growing, owner-managed SME based in Harrogate!

The business has experienced impressive growth over the last 18 months, and as a result, is now looking to hire a Senior Management Accountant into a newly created role!

The position will report directly to the CFO and work alongside a small management accounts team with ownership and responsibility for high-profile clients.

This newly created position (as a consequence of a recent acquisition) is a well-rounded, hands-on role, encompassing business partnering, client management, and management accounts preparation.

Because this is a new role, the business can consider someone working either 4 or 5 days per week — so flexible hours/days are an option for the right candidate!

Reporting to the Finance Director, the key duties include:

  1. Ensuring monthly management accounts, balance sheet lead schedules, and cash flow forecasts are produced and submitted within the client reporting deadlines.
  2. Supporting client contractual requirements and assisting with annual statutory audits.
  3. Reviewing and approving client annual operating budgets with the operations team before presentation.
  4. Attending client meetings, leading from a finance perspective, and completing any arising actions.
  5. Maintaining financial regulations, standard operating procedures, and controls.
  6. Providing excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
  7. Acting as a business partner between Finance and other departments to ensure cohesive working practices.
  8. Ensuring compliance with statutory returns and accreditation requirements, such as Client Money Audit and VAT.
  9. Supporting ad-hoc tasks and reporting.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified — Essential
  • Have at least 3 years of relevant management accounts experience — Essential
  • Possess exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and influence non-finance stakeholders — Essential
