- Fully Qualified (CCAB) Professional Accountant (or equivalent knowledge and experience

- Educated to masters level or equivalent experience
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
- Specialist, in depth understanding of accounting processes and procedures
- Specialist knowledge over a range of areas and understanding of the principles of accountancy via qualification or practical experience
- Good organisation skills and an ability to work under pressure to achieve tight deadlines while maintaining a high quality of work.
- Experience of dealing with incoming information in a confidential and sensitive manner
- Experience of working autonomously to apply specialist knowledge to the interpretation of Trust policy, DHSC policy, standards and targets as well as accounting Standards and Codes of Practice.
Desirable criteria
- Proven general and specialist finance experience
- NHS Management accounting experience
Specific Skills
Essential criteria
- Experience of auditing own or other work areas and of liaising with internal and external auditors. Variance analysis
- WTE (Whole Time Equivalent) staff analysis
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with contentious, complex or sensitive issues with internal and external customers.
- Excellent written, verbal, analytical and presentation skills with an ability to explain complex financial issues to non-financial budget holders and managers
- Proven track record in providing financial advice to both finance and nonfinance individuals
Desirable criteria
- Experience of designing, implementing and influencing policy within your own specialist area
- Ability to manage and reprioritise a demanding workload as required
