Job Purpose

Supports facility maintenance and repair methods and requirements. Assists department leadership and other technicians in the preventative maintenance program and assists contracted service personnel. Provides support to manufacturing concerning operational systems, equipment procedures, and standards and practices in various building tasks. Possesses knowledge of mechanical equipment, HVAC, refrigeration, fire systems, stand-by emergency power, extraordinary and preventative maintenance.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Assist in performing equipment preventive maintenance (PM) as scheduled in compliance with the Quality System. Ensure PM files are completed in a timely manner and documented appropriately.
  • Assist in performing unscheduled service/repairs, extraordinary maintenance, and responding to equipment and facility integrity issues, providing updates on the status of equipment.
  • Perform daily inspection of the facility (inside and outside) and perform general facility maintenance.
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Interpret extensive technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and make informed decisions.
  • Participate with department leadership in hiring, organizing schedules, and assigning work. Perform training to ensure skill development. Develop and implement maintenance procedures. Evaluate technician work for quality assurance. Investigate accidents and prepare reports.
  • Coordinate with outside contractors and supervise their work on maintenance or services for equipment like AC units, air handlers, condensers, cooling towers, lyophilizers, backup generators, and RO/DI systems, ensuring compliance with QS and EH&S policies.
  • Participate in developing department goals, policies, and procedures; monitor work activities for compliance; recommend improvements.
  • Perform miscellaneous repairs (installing whiteboards, changing light bulbs, etc.).
  • Work overtime and holidays as required. Respond to after-hours emergencies. Operate company vehicles and travel between sites. Adhere to health, safety, and quality guidelines. Be available to work at Irvine and Carlsbad locations as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 7+ years’ experience in manufacturing, with 1-2 years in medical device manufacturing or similar.
  • Experience with floor plans, site drawings, permits, project management, and budgeting.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational skills, and knowledge of safety codes.
  • Ability to prioritize, work independently, and handle multiple projects.
  • Mechanical, HVAC, refrigeration, fire systems, and preventive maintenance knowledge.
Preferred Qualifications
  • AA, BA, or relevant certifications.
  • Refrigeration/control systems, electrical, and mechanical experience a plus.
Physical Requirements / Adverse Working Conditions
  • Frequent standing, bending, walking, climbing, heavy lifting, and repetitive motions.
  • Exposure to airborne irritants, chemicals, and solvents.

The anticipated base hourly rate for employees in California is $X to $Y per hour, plus bonuses and benefits. Final pay depends on experience, education, and other factors. The company is a multi-state employer, and pay scales may vary by location.
