Amica Care offers a range of friendly, welcoming, and professional support services, including occasional day care, to assisted living, providing the independence many of our residents desire, through to specialist dementia care for those in most need of our support.

We are looking for a Senior Maintenance Officer to join the team for 37.5 hours per week.

Day-to-Day duties include:

  • You will be responsible for the upkeep of buildings, grounds, and equipment and should work in conjunction with the Home Manager, Independent Living Manager, and Facilities Manager for the benefit, safety, security, and well-being of the residents and colleagues.
  • Responsible for quality control, safety checks, and support of reactive repairs, services, annual servicing, maintenance, and stock improvement works of the home/service.
  • Coordinate repairs, daily tasks, and long-term actions by delegating duties to yourself and the maintenance officer, ensuring this meets management's expectations.
  • Provide technical support to coworkers, such as guidance to staff, contractors, and other third parties regarding protocols, procedures, and site histories.
  • Respond to out-of-hours emergency queries as necessary.
  • Contribute to the organisation's Asset Management Strategy by carrying out stock condition inspections.
  • Communicate with contractors, residents, and coworkers on progress and issues related to reactive repairs, maintenance, and stock improvement works using traditional and modern techniques.
  • Carry out any other duties to meet the needs of the business.
  • Undertake periodic inspections and record results related to fixtures and equipment, electrical equipment, call bells, fire doors, fire bells, fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, mixing valves, water temperatures, etc., within the site.
  • Perform any other duties required for one-off projects as directed by the Home Manager, Facilities Manager, or Operations Manager.

Requirements:

  • A diploma in a relevant trade or equivalent experience.
  • Sound knowledge of general property maintenance and repair.
  • Practical experience in painting, electrical work, plumbing, drywall repair.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Team player mindset.
  • Organisation, time management, and prioritisation skills.
  • Self-motivated with a clear understanding of relevant legislation.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety in the workplace, including COSHH.
  • Understanding of the variables of the role.
  • Ability to work in line with Amica Staff Values.
  • Flexible approach to working hours and willingness to assist at other work sites as required.
  • Support and promote equality and diversity.
  • Having a full driving license and car is desirable.
  • Experience working in a social care environment with vulnerable people is desirable.
