Overview

Senior Maintenance Engineer - £57,500 - Nottingham (NG20). 4 on 4 off - Days & Nights, 12 Hour Shifts. 5% Pension + Gym (£5/month), Showers, Lockers, and 20% Staff Discount.

About the client

ATA are supporting one of the UK's largest retail distribution businesses, employing over 25,000 staff worldwide and operating across 25 countries with 770 UK stores. This site is a 3 million square foot distribution centre - the largest in the UK - with over £200 million invested and phase two of development already underway. With state-of-the-art kit on site, this is a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Maintenance Engineer to join a rapidly growing engineering function with long-term progression opportunities.

Responsibilities
  • Leading and organising shift handovers, prioritising workloads, and providing technical support to engineers.
  • Coaching and mentoring junior engineers, supporting training, PDPs, appraisals, and team development.
  • Driving health and safety, machine availability, and liaising closely with production.
  • Mechanical: Strip and rebuilds, gearbox repairs, bearings, pulleys, chains, and pneumatics (limited hydraulics).
  • Electrical: Fault finding across three-phase systems, panels, sensors, contactors, relays, E-stops, and multimeter use.
  • Supporting PPM schedules including checks, lubrication, rebuilds, and voltage testing.
  • Involvement in Continuous Improvement, RAMS, stores management, and process development to reduce reactive maintenance.
Qualifications
  • A recognised Level 3 qualification in Engineering.
  • Ability to fault find both electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Flexible, proactive approach to driving improvement across a large, complex engineering function.
  • Experience with leadership, or progressive mindset looking to step into a leadership opportunity.
