Contek Recruitment Solutions Ltd is seeking an experienced Machine Shop Manager to lead our precision manufacturing operations in South Birmingham. You will oversee production, drive efficiency, ensure quality, and develop a high-performing team.

The role requires a strong background in CNC turning and milling, GD&T, lean manufacturing, and a track record of delivering on-time, within-budget outputs while maintaining rigorous safety standards.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a Machine Shop/Production leadership role.
• Strong CNC turning/milling background.
• Knowledge of GD&T and quality systems.
• Leadership and communication skills with team development.
• Experience with Lean/CI methodologies (5S, Six Sigma).
• Engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree) or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day machine shop operations and meet production schedules.
• Lead, mentor, and develop machinists, operators, and technicians.
• Maintain quality control, minimize scrap and rework, ensure regulatory compliance.
• Optimize processes, tooling, and workflows to improve OEE and lead times.
• Oversee equipment maintenance, repairs, and upgrades to minimize downtime.
• Promote a safe working environment and enforce health and safety policies.
• Collaborate with engineering, supply chain, and sales to meet customer requirements on time and within budget.
