Job summary

TSA Riley is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to strengthen our Mechanical & Electrical team. Based in central London with hybrid working, you will support project staff and clients with M&E cost management across the UK, mentoring junior staff and working with the Technical Director.

You will lead cost planning, valuations, and contractual administration while maintaining cost data and client communications to drive successful project outcomes.

Qualifications

• Proven experience delivering quantity surveying or commercial services in consulting or client-side contexts.
• Excellent technical knowledge of M&E systems on building projects.
• Experience in a biased/specialist M&E cost management role in the construction industry.
• Proficiency with digital tools to support financial tracking, documentation, and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Taking ownership of cost planning, estimating, procurement, and contract administration to ensure commercial quality.
• Leading valuations, variations, payment recommendations, and monthly financial reporting.
• Monitoring commercial performance, identifying risks or opportunities, and supporting corrective actions.
• Tracking contractual obligations, project changes, and financial risks, escalating when required.
• Resolving contractual queries, addressing challenges, and mitigating potential commercial disputes.
• Maintaining cost data, contract records, and reports using TSA Riley systems and templates.
• Maintaining clear, responsive communication with clients and delivery partners.
• Managing client expectations to support satisfaction and build strong, trusted relationships.
• Collaborating with project teams to support performance, share knowledge, and contribute to a positive team culture.

About The Role

TSA Riley are looking to strengthen our Mechanical & Electrical team by hiring a Senior Quantity Surveyor with an excellent technical knowledge of common M&E systems within the built environment.

About The Role

TSA Riley are looking to strengthen our Mechanical & Electrical team by hiring a Senior Quantity Surveyor with an excellent technical knowledge of common M&E systems within the built environment. The role will be based out of our central London office with hybrid working arrangements available. This office is conveniently located in the Blackfriars area of London. You will join a small team and play a pivotal role within that team and the wider UK business. Your role will see you support our project staff and our clients with M&E related cost management services. This is a national service, which may see you collaborating with our staff and clients across the whole of the UK business. Hence, giving you great variety within your role. In addition to your cost management responsibilities, we are also looking for someone with strong people management skills who can helps us to mentor and develop our talented, junior members within this team. Your key relationships will see you report into the Technical Director of the M&E sector and frequently engage with senior leaders within the UK business, to provide support and advice on their projects. About your responsibilities as Senior Quantity Surveyor at TSA Riley

About you

• Proven experience at delivering quantity surveying or commercial services in a consulting or client-side environment.


• Excellent technical knowledge relating to mechanical and electrical systems on building projects.


• Proven experience of working in a heavily biased/specialist mechanical and electrical cost management role in the construction industry.


• A tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying or a similarly related discipline. Ideally this will be accredited by the RICS.


• Holding a professional accreditation with a relevant body such as the RICS.


• Proven ability to carry out the full spectrum of pre and post contract duties, including cost planning, estimating, procurement, and contract administration.


• Curiosity and adaptability to work across a variety of sectors, client accounts and different delivery contexts.


• Proficiency with digital tools to support financial tracking, documentation, and reporting.


• Known reputation for high-quality work, and a collaborative, effective working style.


• Brings critical thinking and problem-solving skills to support effective commercial delivery.


• Experience of working in agile environments and contributing to cross-functional teams.


• Strong people management skills with the ability to work closely with junior staff members, taking on tasks such as effectively delegating work, quality assurance checking of other staff members work and generally supporting their development.
