Job summary

MEPJOBS UK currently seeks a Senior M&E Quantity Surveyor to manage mechanical and electrical packages on major Life Science and Healthcare projects, from feasibility to handover. A successful Cost Consultancy with a strong regional reputation supports your growth and client engagement.

You will perform full QS and cost management duties, including pre-contract tenders, cost planning, and contract administration across JCT/NEC.

Qualifications

• Experience as Senior M&E Quantity Surveyor on large-scale projects.
• M&E or Building Services package specialist.
• Excellent client-facing skills and ability to lead meetings.
• MRICS or equivalent professional membership desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Mechanical and Electrical packages/elements on projects from feasibility through to handover (£50m–£300m+).
• Undertake full quantity surveying, cost management, and employer's agent duties incl. pre-contract tenders, cost planning, and contract administration (JCT/NEC).
• Manage projects autonomously and maintain strong client communications.

Company & Project

A successful Cost Consultancy with an excellent reputation in the regional and national market are currently looking to grow their team with a talented Senior M&E Quantity Surveyor to join a recent major project win in the Life Science and Healthcare sectors.

The successful business works across multiple sectors including Higher Education, Industrial, Science/Pharma, Commercial and Residential on projects from c£50m-£300m.

They have an established team across Cambridgeshire of 20+ surveyors, working flexibly and on projects for long-term clients with repeat business.

The team is currently expanding due to new project wins and a busy pipeline of secured work for the remainder of 2026 and into 2027/28.

Our client has an excellent opportunity for a Senior M&E Quantity Surveyor that is looking to progress their career in a forward thinking and stable business with a clear pathway to Associate level.

Duties & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will take responsibility for leading the Mechanical and Electrical packages/elements on projects between c£50m-c£300m+ within the Life Science and Healthcare sectors from feasibility through to project handover.

You will undertake full quantity surveying/cost management/employer's agent duties, including pre-contract tenders, cost planning, and contract administration across JCT and NEC contracts including Design and Build.

You will be expected to manage projects autonomously and work closely with the client. Therefore, excellent communication skills are essential.

Desirable Experience

• Previously held a Senior Quantity Surveyor role on projects £10m+.
• M&E or Building Services package specialist.
• Excellent client facing skills and able to lead and manage meetings.
• MRICS Chartership desirable or another relevant professional membership.
• Previous Roles: Project Quantity Surveyor OR Senior Quantity Surveyor OR MRICS Surveyor OR Associate OR QS OR Cost Consultant OR Cost Manager OR Building Services Quantity Surveyor OR M&E Cost Manager.
