Job summary

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) is recruiting GI Medicine consultants to lead care across North Manchester General Hospital and Manchester Royal Infirmary, with a 10-session per week commitment and a flexible rota across sites. The role involves developing new service models, triage pathways, and delivering high-quality endoscopy and clinical care within a supportive academic environment.

Applicants must hold GMC registration with gastroenterology certification and be prepared

Qualifications

• Full GMC registration with licence to practise and entry on the GMC specialist register for gastroenterology (or proposed CCT date within 6 months of interview).
• A higher teaching qualification.
• Ability to take full independent responsibility for clinical care of patients.
• Ability to perform upper GI diagnostic and haemostatic endoscopy with JAG certification.
• Experience of working in specialist centres (e.g. intestinal failure, liver or intestinal transplantation centre activity).
• Experience supervising foundation year trainees and teaching clinical skills to undergraduates.

Responsibilities

• Lead and transform GI care across North Manchester General Hospital and Manchester Royal Infirmary.
• Develop and implement new service models, including triage pathways and Straight-to-Test approaches.
• Provide consultant-level clinical care and supervise medical teams across sites.
• Support clinical governance, audit and research activities to improve patient outcomes.
