The Vacancy

Background

Club Vita is the leading longevity data analytics company servicing the UK, US, and Canadian life insurance and pension risk transfer markets. Established in 2008, we lead the market in collecting and analysing detailed data on pension recipients. We launched in the UK before expanding to Canada in 2015 and the US in 2019.

We are recognised thought leaders in longevity and have developed market-leading analytics products, including multivariate models of mortality/longevity and depersonalised data solutions based on data covering over 20 million pension records.

We continue to experience 20%+ year-on-year revenue growth through an expanding international client base and suite of data analytics products.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic individual to help grow our products and modelling assets team. This team focuses on developing, calibrating, and distributing models with a product mindset, generating commercially focused enhancements and efficiencies.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.

Role Description

As part of the team, you will collect and process large amounts of pension scheme mortality data. You will use this data to build models and data products licensed by pension schemes and insurers. Your initial responsibilities will include:

  1. Maintaining and enhancing our existing suite of models and data products
  2. Designing and developing new features or products, or applying existing capabilities to new markets
  3. Building your understanding of longevity and pension risk transfer domains with support from our longevity specialists

Throughout your work, applying analytical and statistical knowledge to create commercially focused solutions will be essential.

You will primarily work with R to develop sustainable, repeatable solutions to problems. You will also engage with our evolving modelling suite and digital platform to ensure your solutions have wide application across our client base, with potential exposure to additional coding languages like Python over time.

You will collaborate with internal stakeholders across statistical, actuarial, and development teams to develop your solutions.

We invest in career growth within Club Vita. Depending on your skills and interests, your role may evolve into:

  1. Becoming an area expert on our key products and supporting external users
  2. Owning key modelling assets, supporting internal users, and guiding our coding teams, possibly including developing production-level code

Key Responsibilities

  1. Developing and maintaining longevity models and software, including sustainable coding for complex algorithms
  2. Calibrating longevity models and publishing to support our flagship products
  3. Participating in innovative growth areas under product management guidance

  • Initiative in project work and proactive guidance-seeking
  • Team player with mentoring abilities
  • Extensive experience in data/analytical programming in R
  • Strong problem-solving skills in data and analytics
  • Experience working on complex projects within strict deadlines in a commercial environment
  • Ability to produce clear documentation of modelling approaches
  • Longevity analytics experience in insurance or pensions is desirable but not essential
