Taylor Hopkinson is partnered with a global energy developer to recruit a Senior Logistics Engineer for a major offshore wind project.

As Senior Logistics Engineer you will support the development and coordination of logistic and installation concepts according to schedule, during planning and construction phases through to operation. This includes the collection of requirements, definition of scope, planning of time schedule and cost estimation.

The role will be involved in all transport and installation packages, but as the project develops you will be expected to predominately concentrate on one specific package. Significant experience in foundation installation and / or WTG installation is required, but some awareness and experience of cable installation activities will be seen as beneficial.

Initially you will support the Development Logistics Manager, supporting the relevant Installation Package Manager(s). Functionally the role will report to the project Engineering Manager and depending on requirements and skills, you may be asked to undertake the package management of certain parts of installation scope, under the direction of an overall package manager.

The role is a full time, staff role based in London (hybrid working).

Role:

  • Support the technical definition, evaluation, planning, reporting and interfacing of the transport and installation activities.
  • Plan and oversee aspects including load in/out operations at manufacturers/marshalling port(s), and transportation and installation of components.
  • Confirm method statements, risk assessments, lift plans, deck layouts, safety procedures, permits to work and related documents for all loading, transportation and offshore work is in place and accepted by the package team.
  • Be responsible for running small value consultancy contracts during the planning phase.
  • Work to ensure HSE performance through design and implementation to eliminate or reduce risks during construction, operation and maintenance.
  • Support evaluation of potential ports as port for storage and load out of components as required.
  • Prepare and execute relevant documents for the Invitation to Tender for the installation scopes (including technical specifications) and support their technical evaluation.
  • Support negotiation of final contracts.
  • Support the Contract Manager in the preparation of variation orders and claims.
  • Follow up on the preparation for execution activities and required interfaces, supporting on technical aspects of the transportation and installation.
  • Review method statements and risk assessments and produce comments sheets.
  • Perform or oversee engineering calculations.
  • Advise on the contract technical requirements.
  • Assist the Engineering Manager with tasks associated with ensuring a safe design, potentially with provision of inputs for risk and programme reviews.
  • Ensure that all T&I discipline related interfaces are properly coordinated, integrated, and managed accordingly to project deliverables.
  • Schedule and lead regular discipline meetings with project packages, contractors, and stakeholders to promptly identify and resolve interface issues.
  • Communicate interface risk to the Engineering and Package Managers and other relevant project stakeholders.
  • Update line management related to project progress and interface risks.
  • Support Quality Health and Safety Environment (QHSE) activities, policies and objectives.

Requirements:

  • Degree in a relevant engineering discipline (Civil, Mechanical or Electrical).
  • Substantial experience in the offshore wind industry.
  • Strong engineering background with strong knowledge of offshore installation activities and a focus on vessel charter and vessel management.
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience working in multi-cultural and multi-discipline teams.
  • Familiarity with marine simulation software & AutoCAD.
  • Experience of engaging and working alongside of external consultants.
  • Be a good team player with ability to work in a project office environment.
  • Proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with Information Management and BIM systems (desirable).
  • Be reliable, flexible with good attention to detail and able to work well both autonomously and within a team.
  • Logical and well organised with ability to prioritise.
  • Ability to manage workload by understanding requirements, deadlines and ability to work under pressure.
