The Senior LNG Derivatives Trader (CERT) is part of the team responsible for the financial trading interface (futures, swaps, options) of Shell LNG Marketing & Trading (SLMT). The desk services hedging requests from the physical SLMT Trading desks in Singapore, Dubai, The Hague, and other Shell affiliates. The individual is expected to provide risk management advice on key markets and generate value from proprietary positions.

Trades involve various underlying indices, including but not limited to JKM (Japan/Korea Marker for LNG), Brent, Henry Hub Natgas, European Gas (NBP, TTF), JCC (Japanese Crude Cocktail), and LNG FFA.

What’s the role?

Accountabilities/Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Execute trades to fulfill requests from SLMT trading desks for derivatives and ensure quality execution.
  2. Advise SLMT LNG Trading desks on risk management of overall price exposure.
  3. Develop proprietary trading strategies to generate meaningful returns on risk.
  4. Maintain relationships with trading counterparties, including internal teams, external partners, and brokers.
  5. Advance desk initiatives in quantitative research and options management.
  6. Onboard new instruments, internal clients, and external partners.
  7. Support the development of future financial traders within SLMT.
  8. Ensure compliance with regulations, governance, risk, and assurance policies.
What we need from you

We seek candidates with extensive derivatives trading experience and a proven track record of value creation through proprietary trading. Additionally, we look for:

  • Expertise in risk management tools and techniques.
  • Deep knowledge of derivatives markets, fundamental and technical analysis.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and compliance history.
  • Ability to perform accurately under pressure.
  • High numeracy skills and analytical capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
  • Product knowledge in at least one of the following: JKM, Crude, European Gas, US Gas (considered a strong plus).
  • Understanding of option pricing and trading; quantitative background and expertise are strong advantages.
  • Experience with derivatives execution and familiarity with ETRMs (ENDUR, Aligne, DEX) is a plus.
