Job summary

Bluestaq Limited in Lincoln seeks a Senior Systems Administrator (Linux) to own Linux environments supporting NATO delivery on AWS. You will configure, monitor, upgrade and respond to incidents, while mentoring colleagues and improving operational hygiene.

This is an on-site role with UK and US collaboration and periodic travel. Ideal candidates have strong Linux experience, Azure/VMware familiarity, solid networking knowledge, and hands-on IaC tooling (Ansible, Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker,

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on Linux systems administration in secure production environments.
• Experience with Azure, VMware vSphere or similar platforms is transferable.
• Solid networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, VLANs, firewalls, routing).
• Hands-on with automation and IaC tools (Ansible, Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, Packer).
• Curiosity and incident discipline: diagnose faults under pressure and document findings.

Responsibilities

• Own one or more systems/environments including configuration, monitoring and incident response.
• Debug faults including performance issues and integration failures, driving root-cause analysis.
• Configure services with secure, hardened defaults and leverage logs to remediation.
• Plan upgrades under change control with risk assessment and rollback testing.
• Mentor junior colleagues and contribute to runbooks and SOPs.
• Collaborate across engineering, cyber and data teams on cross-functional problems.
• Participate in UK-based operational coverage, including on-call rotations.
