Job Description:

Our client is a mid-size financial services firm which is a Linux shop both on the server side and the trader desktops.

The client has multiple locations; the London office is small, and you will be the sole Linux administrator.

Some Windows administration skills are a plus but not strictly necessary.

We interact directly with users and communicate frequently, so good communication skills are important.

About the Role

We are seeking a hands-on professional for our growing systems administration team.

Systems Administrators are responsible for workstations and servers in our expanding trading operations.

This role involves working on desktops and data centers, with frequent interaction across various organizational levels.

Skills & Attributes:
  • Fluency in Linux administration is essential
  • Experience with Debian/Ubuntu preferred
  • Ability to complete tasks independently and handle frequent context switches
  • Scripting experience in bash and python preferred; SQL and Perl are a plus
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity tools such as 2FA, iptables, Malwarebytes, fail2ban, etc.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50lbs
  • Experience in a small-shop environment with varied responsibilities
  • Comfortable with hands-on tasks like racking and stacking in data centers
Responsibilities include:
  • Installing workstations on trading floors and in offices
  • Installing servers and networking equipment in data centers, sometimes requiring travel
Additional tasks include:
  • Hardware maintenance
  • Large-scale build-outs, sometimes requiring domestic and international travel
  • Installing office appliances such as printers, phones, televisions, etc.
