Job Description:

Mode Search is proud to be partnering with a renowned London-based fashion business in the search for an experienced Nightwear & Loungewear Designer to join their talented team. With a legacy spanning over 50 years and a global client base, the company is celebrated for its trend-driven collections that balance creativity and commercial appeal.

This is a full-time, office-based role located in London. Reporting directly to the Head of Design, the successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Sales, Fabric, Production, and Technical teams in a fast-paced and creative environment.

The Role

  • Lead seasonal design research, developing directional mood boards, colour stories, and fabric concepts aligned with current trends.
  • Create original, trend-aware nightwear and loungewear designs—across pyjamas, chemises, robes, and coordinated lounge sets—with a strong commercial sensibility.
  • Partner with fabric and print teams to curate appropriate materials, trims, and surface patterns.
  • Drive the sampling process, ensuring garments meet design vision and quality standards through close collaboration with technical teams.
  • Present seasonal collections to both internal stakeholders and key retail partners, incorporating feedback to refine and evolve the ranges.
  • Work cross-functionally with sales, buying, merchandising, and production teams to ensure collections are commercially viable and margin-aware.
  • Stay ahead of competitor activity and consumer trends to inform both creative direction and market positioning.
  • Guide and mentor junior members of the design team, supporting their development and workflow.
  • Maintain ownership of the critical path to ensure samples and finalised designs are delivered on schedule.

The Candidate

  • Brings a minimum of 6 years' hands-on experience in Nightwear or Loungewear design within a fashion-led environment.
  • Highly driven and committed, with a flexible attitude toward deadlines and team needs.
  • Exceptional eye for design detail, with a sharp sense of what’s commercially relevant.
  • Clear and confident communicator, both visually and verbally, with strong presentation skills.
  • Naturally collaborative and skilled at building productive working relationships across departments.
  • Deep understanding of high street trends, social media influence, and seasonal fashion direction.
  • Combines creative flair with commercial understanding, able to translate inspiration into salable product.
  • Knowledgeable in garment construction, fitting, and manufacturing processes.
  • Awareness of sustainable design practices and ability to integrate them into workflow.
  • Strong command of Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop and Illustrator.
