Duties And Responsibilities

To carry out thorough examinations of cranes and lifting equipment in accordance with applicable legislative standards, company procedures, and client procedures where applicable. A Senior Lifting Equipment Inspector is someone who has the appropriate qualifications, training, skills, experience, and satisfactory knowledge of the requirements of the inspections they are authorized to carry out. The Senior Lifting Equipment Inspector is expected to lead inspection scopes and supervise a team of less experienced inspectors in both onshore and offshore environments.

Functions

  1. Carry out work in accordance with statutory requirements, Oceaneering operating procedures, and client specifications/requirements.
  2. Maintain direct contact with Client Focal Point, Inspection Engineers, and Project Managers to communicate all aspects of the inspection scope.
  3. Work within and operate Oceaneering documented procedures and database proficiently.
  4. Ensure inspection is carried out within the parameters of the applicable specification.
  5. Produce clear and concise reports detailing methods used, inspection results, and findings, noting any limitations or test restrictions.
  6. Complete work timely and efficiently to meet deadlines, adjusting to changing priorities when necessary.
  7. Work independently and as part of a team in a safe, efficient, and effective manner.
  8. Provide constructive feedback for process and procedure improvements.
  9. Train and mentor less experienced inspectors and assist with on-site monitoring and development.
  10. Assist with witness and competence assessments of personnel.
  11. Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by Supervision or Management.
  12. Adhere to the Company Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality Systems.

Safety

  1. Ensure understanding and adherence to Safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
  2. Conduct task-based risk assessments, operate within client safe systems of work, deliver toolbox talks and Take II, ensuring team understanding of roles and responsibilities.
  3. Ensure inspections are within the parameters of the applicable specification.
  4. Verify that work areas are safe for activities.
  5. Before packing returned equipment, verify labeling accuracy and equipment verification.

Other

  1. Follow Company Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality Systems.
  2. Perform tasks with due diligence regarding the Integrated Management Systems.
  3. Suggest environmentally friendly practices and contribute to environmental improvement.
  4. Undertake other reasonable duties as required by Management.

  • OGUK Medical
  • Minimum Industry Safety Training (MIST)
  • Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET)
  • Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CAEBS)
  • Bi-Deltoid Shoulder Measurement
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in lifting equipment examination scopes.
  • LEEA Foundation Course
  • IRATA Rope Access Level 1
  • MPI - SNT or PCN Level 2
  • Eye Test
  • Flexible approach, team player with strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Confident in written and spoken English
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio, etc.)

  • LEEA Advanced Programmes
  • IRATA Rope Access Level 2 or 3
  • Professional registration as Engineering Technician
  • Wire rope socketing trained
  • Crane Inspection trained
  • Knowledge of legislation, standards, codes of practice related to inspection scopes
  • Ability to detect and categorize defects and understand failure modes
  • Decision-making within own competence, seeking advice when needed
