Job summary

Lancaster City Council is seeking a Senior Leisure Assistant (Lifeguard) at Salt Ayre Leisure Centre, Lancaster. The role is full-time, 37 hours per week across a rolling shift pattern, and involves supervising the pool, organising sessions and delivering excellent customer experience.

You will support the Duty Officer and frontline staff, ensure equipment is ready, and maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety. A National Pool Lifeguard Qualification is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in a leisure centre or swimming pool environment.
• Ability to supervise frontline staff and coordinate team activities.
• Strong customer-facing communication and safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the swimming pool and flume operations.
• Set up and clear away equipment for a wide range of activities.
• Assist the Duty Officer/Leisure Supervisor in day-to-day running of shifts.
• Deliver excellent customer experience and maintain high cleanliness standards.
