Job summary

Sodexo at Northumbria University in Gateshead is seeking a Project Manager – Lifecycle and Estates to own a diverse portfolio of lifecycle and capital replacement projects, from small improvements to schemes valued up to £1 million.

You will lead cross-functional teams, conduct site surveys, prepare plans and budgets, evaluate contractor proposals, and ensure safety, quality and compliance across M&E building services.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience in a Project Management role.
• Proven delivery of projects from £5,000 to £1 million.
• PRINCE2 or equivalent qualification is required.
• Strong understanding of construction, M&E building services and asset lifecycle management.
• Excellent knowledge of health, safety and statutory compliance requirements.
• Experience managing contractors, suppliers and external stakeholders.
• Strong commercial awareness and budget management experience.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality and compliance.
• NEBOSH or IOSH Managing Safely qualification.
• Excellent communication, influencing and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead lifecycle, infrastructure, building fabric and M&E projects from concept through to completion.
• Conduct site surveys and develop detailed scopes of work.
• Prepare and manage project plans, programmes, budgets, risk registers and resource plans.
• Manage tender exercises and evaluate contractor proposals to identify best-value solutions.
• Oversee contractors, consultants and suppliers, ensuring high standards of safety, quality and performance.
• Monitor costs, manage budgets and proactively identify opportunities and risks.
• Develop robust business cases and ROI justifications for future investment.
• Ensure compliance with CDM 2015, Building Safety legislation and internal governance requirements.
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders across Northumbria University and Sodexo.
• Produce clear project reporting, documentation and executive updates.
• Drive continuous improvement and support long-term estate resilience and sustainability objectives.
