Job summary

Emerald Group in London is seeking a Senior Consulting Actuary with a strong background in life insurance capital and risk management to deliver complex projects for life insurance clients and contribute to the growth of their capital and risk consulting capabilities.

You will lead client projects across capital, risk and regulatory consulting, mentor junior colleagues and help modernise actuarial processes through digital tools and innovative modelling techniques.

Qualifications

• Qualified actuary with at least 3 years post-qualification experience in life insurance or consultancy.
• Strong knowledge of Solvency UK and related frameworks such as Solvency II and Bermuda.
• Experience developing, reviewing or validating risk-based capital models and calibration methodologies.
• Knowledge of capital management and risk management frameworks within the life insurance sector.
• Experience applying technology and digital solutions to enhance modelling and actuarial processes.
• Programming experience in Python or R would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver client projects across capital, risk and regulatory consulting engagements.
• Support life insurance clients with risk-based capital modelling, model validation and capital management activities.
• Work on regulatory applications, business transfer projects.
• Help modernise actuarial processes through the application of digital tools, automation and innovative modelling techniques.
• Build strong relationships with client stakeholders and act as a trusted adviser.
• Develop project scopes, manage delivery timelines and ensure high-quality outcomes.
• Contribute to research, thought leadership and the development of new client propositions.
• Support business development activities by identifying opportunities and building market presence.
• Coach, mentor and support more junior colleagues, contributing to a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
• Work closely with colleagues across the wider consulting business to deliver integrated client solution.
